There's a moment in every hot rod builder's project where the decision has to be made, what color? In the real world this can be put off and agonized over for most of the project, and consequently make or break it. Imagine having spent years building a car, only to screw it up at the last minute with a terrible paint job. In the LEGO world, that decision has to happen quite early, and can also have dire consequences. Depending on color, finding the parts you need can be quite challenging. So I'm always impressed with a rare color choice, and this purple beast by builder redfern1950s2, is a real eye catcher. While my new Airstream has fundamentally changed how I camp, I spent the first half century of my life tent camping. I've always enjoyed adding a bit of separation between myself and the real world and decompressing while "roughing it" (and of course eating camp food). The August 2018 LEGO Store Calendar has been out for a few days now and one of the main promotions for the month is the new is the LEGO Plants from Plants (40320). It has 29 pieces complete of various plant elements and you can get it for free from August 1-14 with purchases of $35 or more, while supplies last. If you haven’t heard about it, LEGO launched a new initiative to start producing LEGO plant elements using plant-based plastic created from sugarcane. This approach is part of The LEGO Group’s commitment to use more sustainable materials in a large portion of their products and packaging by 2030. LEGO has revealed another teaser for the LEGO Creator Aston Martin DB5 (10262) has they have showed off another image for the set. This time, there is a silhouette of the box in front of the gun barrel. There’s also the 007 and Aston Martin symbols at the bottom but at the top we have the LEGO Creator Expert which is the first time they have acknowledged what theme the Aston Martin DB5 is from. If you saw my post this morning, the Budapest LEGO Certfied Store already started their own promotion for it by taking pre-orders. There’s still no word on when the set will be released but the July 18-31 VIP Early Access event seems like the best guess since there is also an event at the Leicester Square LEGO Brand Store happening on the same day.
