LEGO has announced the winner of the LEGO Ideas Seaside contest in which the winning build will become the next gift-with-purchase set and the title of Fan Designer. The winner with 969 votes is Ray the Castaway by DadiTwins (shown above) and it was a runaway choice from fans as it had over 400 votes over the next runner up build. There’s no word on when it will be released as a GWP but it’ll be probably at least a year if you compare it to previous GWP building contests. The set has been out for a while now but LEGO has just released the designer video for the LEGO Star Wars Imperial Probe Droid (75306). Designer Jan Neergaard Olesen talks about some of the details in the set which was first seen in The Empire Strikes Back. A few days ago, LEGO announced the grand prize and runner up winners of the building contest that puts their creations in the LEGO House for an entire year. LEGO has announced they have launched their first digital vlog series for LEGO Ninjago called Ninja Vlogs. The vlogs feature Jay and Nya who are played by actors using motion capture and real-time rendering and it combines CGI along with a live action performance. LEGO has released a mysterious trailer that shows something is coming soon on June 26. It shows a 2×2 brick with the stud highlighted in different colors and the whole image glitches. LEGO did do another teaser a few months back with the hashtag #NFT but that tweet was quickly deleted. I’m not sure if this new teaser related to that or not. It’s also possible that it could be the LEGO Light Mode lighting kits that were shown off last year but haven’t heard anything about them since. We all know that Chronicle Books does a lot of LEGO puzzles and there is a new fan vote on LEGO Ideas for a theme for an upcoming puzzle product. Chronicle Books will be doing a 1,000 piece puzzle and they need you to submit entries that you think could be good enough to be on an upcoming product. If you didn’t see the June 2021 LEGO Store Calendar yet, LEGO will be doing a new kind of promotion for the new LEGO Ninjago 10th Anniversary BrickHeadz (40490). Instead of the usual gift-with-purchase, they will be trying out a new purchase-with-purchase promotion for it and in this case, the set will be $10 with a purchase of $85 in Ninjago products, in-store only. I can already see some issues with it. The main thing being the in-store only one. There are still a lot of people who don’t have a LEGO Brand Store or Discovery Center near them and will probably have to resort to the secondary market. There are also those who don’t want to go to a store because of the hassle. Another problem I see with the promotion is mostly for hardcore Ninjago fans who have collected every set. The Medieval Tavern by LEt.sGO is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The tavern contains 2,946 pieces and has three buildings, each with their own details, and it also proposes 10 minifigures.
