On July 1st, 2013—exactly one decade ago—Tommy Williamson debuted Nerdly, the glasses-wearing mascot of a site called BrickNerd. (The site actually launched a full six months before that, but the brick-built bespectacled red 2x2 was introduced in the summer.) LEGO will be releasing a new LEGO Disney promotion tomorrow when the Disney 100 Years Celebration (40600). The details are still unclear on how to get it but there are reports that will be will be available from July 1-9 with purchases $100 in LEGO Disney products. June is over and we’re in the midst of Summer - time to sit back and enjoy a cocktail of great features, insightful articles and deep dives from all across the LEGO community! We are lucky to have this many outlets and channels that keep creating incredible content, and these are the best of the month. Here at BrickNerd, we put LEGO under the microscope and also looked at larger-than-life minifigures. We got nerdy about more LEGO SNOT and (missing) LEGO colors, and looked at how toys might be able to help equaling the playing field. We discovered Rome (twice!) and Venice made from bricks, and visited Sydney, Nevada, the UK, and Kobe, Japan. The next LEGO DREAMZzz set that we’ll be checking out is Izzie and Bunchu the Bunny (71453). The set has 259 pieces and retails for $19.99. Minifigures There’s only a couple of characters in the set, one of which is Izzie. She is in her Dream World form where she has some armor on the torso. The legs are dual molded for her shoes. Her double-sided head shows her with smiles on both sides with one being more than the other. Her hair has a very color to it with it fading from blue to pink. The Exhibit Floor layout has been released for San Diego Comic Con 2023 and we can confirm that LEGO will be on display once again. They’ll be at their usual spot at Booth #2829 although we don’t know yet what will be on display there. If I had to make a guess, I would think there will be something involving LEGO DREAMZzz since it’s their newest IP. In addition, we’re not sure if there will be any exclusive LEGO sets or minifigures that will be given away like with previous years.
