Have you ever considered decorating a Christmas tree using only brick-built LEGO ornaments? With BrickNerd being a Recognized LEGO Fan Media (RLFM), we sometimes get to bring ideas like that into reality by leveraging support like the LEGO Pick-a-Brick support program. (You may remember such grand project ideas as building Mega Nerdly.) My idea for a support order this year was, you guessed it, to decorate an entire Christmas tree using LEGO ornaments. This tree would be donated and displayed at an annual fundraiser called the “Festival of Trees and Lights” here in Louisville, Kentucky (USA). The fundraiser supports Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation, whose mission is to: “… serve all families regardless of their ability to pay. As part of a not-for-profit organization, Norton Children’s facilities rely on the generosity of the community to help fulfill our mission to provide for the physical and emotional health of children, from birth to...

Today’s guest article comes from Warren Elsmore, a lifelong LEGO fan and professional brick artist based in Edinburgh, UK. You can find him on his website and Instagram. T-Gauge Trains Caution: Non-LEGO parts ahead! I suspect most of us have some sort of hobby aside from being an AFOL. For me, I’ve always had a bit of an interest in model railways. Not that I’ve had one since I was 8 – but I’ve always enjoyed watching them. I suspect that influenced the choice of my first MOC made as an adult – which was of a GNER east coast train here in the UK. One of the first AFOL friends I made, however, is based nearby in Scotland and is very much into LEGO trains. David Graham’s AFOL-ness (is that a word?) is a bit different, though, as he attends local model railway shows with his LEGO trains. Unlike all...

Opening up a new set of LEGO gifts each day is a great day to mark the passing of time. Why not make Advent calendars for every day of the year? Think about it, LEGO! I’m sure the crack design team can come up with a few hundred more Star Wars micro builds each year, right? For now, let’s enjoy our calendar gifts when we can get them in December. All six of them: Friends, Disney, City, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Spider-Man! As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 17… The Friends family can start their holiday baking thanks to today’s kitchen build. Disney offers its first build not tied...

All year-round, we here at The Brothers Brick spend our time featuring amazing builds made by the LEGO fan community. But we figured, for the holiday season, it would be great to build something together. For each day from December 1st through the 24th, we’ll be posting instructions to a custom TBB advent calendar build, one part each day. Want to participate? You can find all the parts you’ll need for the TBB Advent Event from our announcement in November. Read on to see what we’re building today! We finish the tree today. As with yesterday, be careful where you grab this part of the model. Here’s what it looks like in the real world: The post 2024 TBB custom LEGO advent calendar – Day 16 [Feature] appeared first on The Brothers Brick. Mike Sinclair had a lot of medium nougat LEGO bricks lying around (probably leftovers from a gingerbread LEGO creation of his that was on display at the LEGO House in Billund), so he did what any festive-minded LEGO builder would and built an upscaled gingerbread person minifig. The “upscaled” part, of course, means it has the same proportions as a regular minifig, just a lot bigger. Such a scale allows for greater brick-built details, like the white croissants as dabs of frosting that serve as the gingerbread’s eyebrows. Greater detail in turn means greater expressiveness. All in all, they just look like a sweet gingerbread guy or gal. It’ll be a shame when it comes time to be eaten disassembled.
