Way back when Cartoon Network was pretty much on all the time at my house. Luckily for me and my wife back then the content was pretty good. The likes of Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack kept us as entertained as our young boys. But one of my favorites was Johnny Bravo. The writing, editing and pacing of that show worked so well. Here's a mashup that needs to be a thing, Pokemon and mechs. Builder LEGO 7 imagines Pikachu as a mech, and it opens the imagination for an entire world of huge Pokemon inspired mechs. I love movies, always have, and I love going to the movies. There's something so special about the shared experience in a darkened space that you just don't get at home. Of course you also don't usually have to walk on a floor covered with "cinemuck" and have to listen to some jerk on his phone when you watch at home (if you do, you have my sympathy). So this excellent theater by RVA LUG resonates with me. And with the custom lighting, cool posters by none other than Paul Lee and clean, retro look, it's an absolutely awesome creation. We’ve just passed the first half of the year and it looks like we’re starting to get details of what could be coming out for 2018. Yesterday, there were a lot of LEGO promotion products that were revealed over on Bouwsteenjes and one type of product that were in shown various themes were the pod polybags. The pod polybag was first introduced with the Batman Battle Pod (5004929) from The LEGO Batman Movie and LEGO has expanded the idea to other themes. I’ve already talked about one for The LEGO Ninjago Movie with Kai’s Dojo Pod (5004916) but there are also ones for LEGO Nexo Knights and LEGO Friends. For the LEGO Nexo Knights Armor Pod (5004914), there is a knight minifigure along with a sword and shield as accessories. I do like in front of the pod, you have the Classic Space logo on the badge. A few weeks ago, Josh Hanlon from Beyond the Brick was able to attend LEGO Fan Media Days and he has given LEGO fans a look at something that most of us probably won’t be able to see in real life, the LEGO Archive Vault, aka Memory Lane. It is located under the LEGO Idea House and it contains almost every single LEGO set that has been produced. Attendees of the LEGO Inside Tour are also able to check it out. LEGO designers and other employees also go down to the Vault to do research or reminisce about their childhood. Since LEGO adds to the Vault every year, that means that they are running out of room and will soon have to move it to another location. Round structures built with square bricks always impress me, but this one also has flat edges that transition to round ones and a slight taper, which sort of blows my admittedly tiny mind. Builder Benjamin Cheh certainly knows how to craft a mech, just look at this thing. Can you imagine spotting this thing coming over the rise on a battlefield? I'm pretty sure I'd soil my jumpsuit. It’s never too early for Christmas news and it looks like we have a first look at a new LEGO Seasonal Christmas Ornament (5004934). As you can see from the images, it’s a new concept consisting of 66 pieces which includes small builds like a tricycle, race car, a gift, and a couple of minifigures. You also notice that part of the build comes out from the top of the box. Every once in a while a builder posts something so clever or well done it could be the foundation of a real line from LEGO. This modular road system by builder LEGO 7 could absolutely be developed into a full-fledged theme. I could even see it being a sub-theme of established properties, like Star Wars or Ninjago.
