I don't know if there's such a thing as FutureElegant (did I just make that up?) but this gorgeous motorcycle from builder Vince_Toulouse looks both retro and futuristic, steampunk and modern. Here he is, in one of his most groundbreaking and phenomenal forms, Link from Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time. The Zelda series had been quite successful on NES, but nothing prepared us for just how awesome Ocarina was. Builder Julius von Brunk brings us this version of young Link, armed with his Deku shield and what looks to be the Kokiri sword. He looks totally ready for action, and I'm totally ready to play. Another LEGO Balrog has emerged from the dark, this time created by fan Jonas Kramm. Easily one of the most iconic, dark creatures that was created by J.R.R. Tolkien and brought to an audience's eyes by the films. This creature seems to have a large presence in this photo, even though it's not quite appropriately scaled for LEGO's minifigure versions of the Fellowship. Hey Arnold never got much traction in this house. I remember it being on from time to time, but it always seemed to be because we had finished watching something else, like Samurai Jack Or Rug Rats, and had just no bothered to turn off the TV when we settled down with a Tamagotchi or some other distraction. If you haven't seen it, you must. The Iron Giant is one of the most underrated animated features ever produced. It sort of flew under the radar when it was released, but has grown a loyal following ever since. Builder Obedient Machine is clearly a fan, and has built this charming tribute. But he didn't build just one, he and his son both built one together, that's pretty awesome. A collaborative castle battle effort that was on display during BrickFair Virginia 2016. Gary^The^Procrastinator shared photos of this magnificent battle on his Flickr photostream. Multiple skilled castle builders contributed to this massive MOC, creating realistic ruins and an awesome port battle. Some of those boats are truly inspiring. Steampunk is always intriguing, as are mechanical insects. When the two mix, you get something beautiful and inspiring. Jonas Kramm made a delicate looking steampunk mechanical insect. What more could you ask for? That clear dome on the very bottom, covering (yet revealing) some inner mechanisms of the spider is easily my favorite aspect of this build. Wonderful work! Edoras, the capital of Rohan. A lovely microscale rendition of this beautiful, golden city in Tolkien's magical world. Isaac S. created this little city for the LEGO Middle Earth Olympics over on MOCpages. Incorporating very simple pieces, there's no way this build could look anymore similar to the actual city. E.T. was one of those movies that shaped me as a person. The late 70's/early 80's were a damn fine time to be a fan of movies and a budding filmmaker. Between Lucas, Spielberg, Henson, Reitman, Landis and a few others, I was scarred for life in the best way possible.
