The 2023 reboot of LEGO Friends has brought new life to what is one of LEGO’s most creative themes, and has allowed for stories about diverse people and places that reflect our own world. When The LEGO Group first started releasing The Lord of the Rings sets again in 2023, starting with Rivendell, many LOTR fans met the news with great rejoicing. However, there’s been a lot of concern and criticism from the community about the large size and hefty price tag that has accompanied these sets so far (Brickheadz notwithstanding). As such, 10367 The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook marks a refreshing new low price point for the series. While the Book Nook may not have been quite what many fans had in mind for a LOTR set (I’m still holding out for some smaller army builder packs), it is refreshing to see a set priced under $150 mark. There were a total of 54 submissions in this round and in no particular order, they include LEGO Godzilla by MattE720 and from the Parking Lot from the last review stage is Tintin – Space Rocket by tkel86. Bio-Cup has returned in full force, and the preliminary results have been posted! As always, the contest has drawn out some of the most inventive (and bizarre) creations from the Constraction-building LEGO community. Today, we’ll quickly explore some of the builds that stood out to us. This year’s preliminary theme was simply DREAM, and builders were left free to interpret it however their imagination (or subconscious) saw fit… including nightmares, Bionicle beds, electric sheep, DreamZzz, etc… So fall into REM with us as we take a closer look at some of the entries that caught our eye in this opening round. There were 54 projects that qualified for the Review Stage and it took LEGO six months to see which ones are deemed worthy to become an official LEGO Ideas set.
