I love how my daily quest for interesting LEGO creations has educated me over the past five years. Who would have thought that so much was to be learned of other cultures, events, people and world history through the stacking of bricks? Today I learned of the viking conquest of the coast of Spain in the year 858AD, thanks to this incredible diorama by The Brickstons Group. I still remember the time my oldest explained Pokemon to me so many years ago. We had the cards, the games, we watched the cartoons, it was big at our house. There was a poster on his wall, and he very patiently showed me the best ones and explained the concept of enslaving small woodland creatures, storing them in small spheres and forcing them to fight for his pleasure. I think the whole thing wouldn't have sounded quite so inhumane if I had known what was inside the Pokeballs. This impressive locomotive by brickthebrick is one of those models that you look at for a second in confusion, because you can't figure out the scale. I thought it was just a train model at first glance, but my brain couldn't reconcile the level of detail achieved. The next LEGO video game was announced last week to be LEGO DC Super-Villains coming in October. WB Games and TT Games will be at E3 next week to start promoting it and hopefully will continue at San Diego Comic Con. There’s already some new information about it in terms of new characters that we can expect to see. The LEGO Creator Roller Coaster (10261) is now available and it looks very impressive as it is but what if you combine it with multiple copies of the set? Nati con i LEGO has released a new video of them showing off the Roller Coaster with three sets combined which is a feat in itself. The first thing that your eyes are probably drawn to is the constructed loop. There’s enough height on the initial drop that the momentum lets the carts go through the loop with ease. I wish the video showed a wider shot of the drop from the top of the tracks but nevertheless it is pretty stunning seeing three Roller Coaster sets combined into one larger coaster. The LEGO Group has announced that they are partnering up with the popular Swedish furniture company IKEA to promote more creative play in the home environment. The press release doesn’t go into detail of what will be happening with this partnership however my guess is that we could see LEGO branded furniture being sold at IKEA.
