You may have seen this leak a few days ago but LEGO has allowed us to share this one image of the LEGO Disney Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse Buildable Characters (43179). The image was first found on LEGO’s servers and they did ask us initially not to post it but in a surprising turn of events, they have given us permission to. The official announcement for the set is still coming in the near future but this is the set that is reportedly coming out on June 17. As you can see above, the set features both Mickie and Minnie along with some accessories. Stay tuned for the official announcement with details of the set which should be coming soon. LEGO has announced the latest addition to the LEGO MINDSTORMS line with the Robot Inventor (51515). Retailing at $359.99, the set has 949 pieces and will be released in early Q4 2020. Robot Inventor is a 5-in-1 set that allows builders to also learn about coding using the companion app. The coding language is based on Scratch and it supports Python for more advanced coders. Yes, it’s been a while since I’ve posted, I won’t go into details why (but you can read a bit about it here). And while I’m not promising to be as prolific as I was before, I do intend to blog more. In fact, this MOC by builder JK Brickworks was the first creation I’d seen in a while that made me go “hey, that’s cool”, and I actually wanted to blog it. I’m going to call that progress. Anyway, this thing standing still is adorable, but the fact that’s it’s mechanical, and all the critters have their own personality just makes it irresistible. The Lego HeroQuest is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. It is based on a popular board game from the 90s and it is a recreation of the original one within the 3,000 part limit. I’m not too familiar with the game but it does include a lot of minifigures to represent the characters. It now joins The Mountain Windmill and Community – Greendale Community College as the projects to reach the Second 2020 Review Stage. Slovak site Svetmodelov.sk has posted more product listings for upcoming LEGO Super Mario theme. They are loosely translated so they aren’t very accurate. It looks like these are to customize the Mario device to other costumes that he has worn in the franchise. I’m curious to see if Flying Mario is Raccoon Mario or Cape Mario. As of now, we still haven’t seen much out of the theme but hopefully we get some more details soon. It was rumored that LEGO was to reveal more about it during San Diego Comic Con but we’ll see what happens now since SDCC moved to a virtual format for this year. LEGO’s next promotion on LEGO Shop@Home starts tomorrow with the LEGO City Beach Buggy (30369) polybag. The promotion runs from May 18-31 and you can get it for free with purchases of $40 or more, while supplies last. The polybag has 45 pieces and it features a basic orange buggy along with a surfer minifigure. Note that the torso for the minifig is quite rare at this time and can only be found in one other set which is the Minifigure Set Summer Celebration (40344). That set is now retired so this polybag is the only to get the torso design unless you go do Bricks & Pieces or on the secondary market. One other part to highlight is the teal surfboard. I believe this polybag is also available at Walmart for about $5 and some locations even have it on sale for 20% off. Honestly, I don’t think it warrants...

When we got the press kit for the new LEGO Monkie Kid theme, we also got some behind the scenes images of the development process for the line. A number of LEGO designers from other themes came in and helped create the eight sets in the initial wave. These designers headed by Simon Lucas (The LEGO Ninjago Movie), include Justin Ramsden, Chris Perron, Nick Vas, and more. As mentioned before, the sets have been in development for over two years with close collaboration with parents and children in China and it is the first LEGO theme to be inspired by one culture.
