Way back when, there was a rumor of a new LEGO theme called LEGO DOTS which was supposed to be released last year but it never happened. It looks like the theme will be coming later this year as the LEGO 1HY catalogs show a page stating LEGO DOTS will be coming in March 2020. The page only shows some girls being excited but that’s pretty much the extent of it. It has been widely reported that the theme would be based around buildable LEGO jewelry. It is now 2020 and many of us have been fans of LEGO for many years, some of you even decades. Each year LEGO releases brand new sets and sometimes even new themes, whether it be in-house IP or licensed ones. This is all fine and dandy especially since LEGO’s main audience are kids but what about the adults? We also are builders but for some of us, we are also collectors. If you’re a collector like I am, I like nostalgia. I like the old stuff that remind me of my childhood. LEGO has released some new sets that harken back to some original sets like the Taj Mahal (10256) and Carousel (10257) but that’s about it for the larger sets. I do enjoy when I see a small collection of parts ingeniously combined into something nifty. When you first glance at this little locomotive by builder Cole Blaq it just looks like a train. Like a great many Star Wars fans, I ravenously devoured The Mandalorian, and it’s been so refreshing to have the feels of Star Wars back. There’s a certain intangibility to what makes something feel like Star Wars, but no small part of it is the roots on which it’s built, the inspiration that fueled it. It’s clear in the first minute of episode one that The Mandalorian is heavily inspired by the classic westerns, which were in turn heavily inspired by the classic samurai movies, and A New Hope drew much of inspiration from those as well. By the end of the first scene I was hooked, and so was everyone else.
