The Lego HeroQuest is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. It is based on a popular board game from the 90s and it is a recreation of the original one within the 3,000 part limit. I’m not too familiar with the game but it does include a lot of minifigures to represent the characters. It now joins The Mountain Windmill and Community – Greendale Community College as the projects to reach the Second 2020 Review Stage. Slovak site Svetmodelov.sk has posted more product listings for upcoming LEGO Super Mario theme. They are loosely translated so they aren’t very accurate. It looks like these are to customize the Mario device to other costumes that he has worn in the franchise. I’m curious to see if Flying Mario is Raccoon Mario or Cape Mario. As of now, we still haven’t seen much out of the theme but hopefully we get some more details soon. It was rumored that LEGO was to reveal more about it during San Diego Comic Con but we’ll see what happens now since SDCC moved to a virtual format for this year. LEGO’s next promotion on LEGO Shop@Home starts tomorrow with the LEGO City Beach Buggy (30369) polybag. The promotion runs from May 18-31 and you can get it for free with purchases of $40 or more, while supplies last. The polybag has 45 pieces and it features a basic orange buggy along with a surfer minifigure. Note that the torso for the minifig is quite rare at this time and can only be found in one other set which is the Minifigure Set Summer Celebration (40344). That set is now retired so this polybag is the only to get the torso design unless you go do Bricks & Pieces or on the secondary market. One other part to highlight is the teal surfboard. I believe this polybag is also available at Walmart for about $5 and some locations even have it on sale for 20% off. Honestly, I don’t think it warrants...

When we got the press kit for the new LEGO Monkie Kid theme, we also got some behind the scenes images of the development process for the line. A number of LEGO designers from other themes came in and helped create the eight sets in the initial wave. These designers headed by Simon Lucas (The LEGO Ninjago Movie), include Justin Ramsden, Chris Perron, Nick Vas, and more. As mentioned before, the sets have been in development for over two years with close collaboration with parents and children in China and it is the first LEGO theme to be inspired by one culture. The 2020 Recognized LEGO Fan Media Days is coming up at the end of the month and we here at The Brick Fan are lucky enough to be attending this event. Unfortunately due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, flying to Denmark is out of the question so LEGO will be holding online sessions for it. This is a new thing and there were limited spots for who we can interview and yesterday we got our choices. Earlier this week, TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed a new key art for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. A few days after, Star Wars released a this week’s recap video and they also talked about the game. According to Reddit, they had to reupload the video due to them reportedly revealing the release date of the game on accident. The new video doesn’t show the date to be October 20 which has been clipped out but many fans noticed it. In a recent interview, Lucasfilm Games managing producer Craig Derrick says there will be about 500 Star Wars characters in the game with a lot of them being playable ones. There’s not much more details about the game that were revealed in terms of gameplay. I’m guessing the details are being held off until video game announcement season later this summer. For those who know me, I’m a huge fan of Overwatch and have been collecting many things from the line including the LEGO Overwatch sets. It’s a pretty niche theme but there were some cool parts and minifigures that have come out of it. The sets did release when the hype for the game died down substantially but there were still many dedicated players and fans. Since the game was released, there were 21 original characters available to play and by the time the sets were released in January 2019, there were 29 total characters. Out of those 29, we only had minifigures of 15 of them, 16 if you count Bastion, however we were still missing some popular characters like Lucio and Mei.
