The main promotion for this year’s LEGO Insiders Weekend shopping event is the Retro Record Player (40699). The set has 310 pieces and requires a purchase of $250 or more on the LEGO Shop to get it. The build is spread out through four bags along with a bag for the clear panels. Speaking of the panels, they are used for the glass cover to protect to record player. The glass is on hinges and you can prop it up using the bar on the right side. The left side of the record player has the power button which you can push to turn on and off. On the other side, you have the volume knob as well as a slider to change the speed of the record. The needle bar is secured by an antenna and can turn to scratch the record. Yet another LEGO Ideas project that had reached the 10,000 supporter mark has been removed from the Review Stage and this time it is Mr. Brick Coffee Pot. Designed by RainbowToTT, the build resembles the very recognizable Mr. Coffee coffee maker. The project page has been completely removed and there will be no mentioning of it ever again, as with previous projects that have also been removed. We’ll only know the reasoning for it being removed if the designer comes out and posts something about it, unless they’re on a NDA. I have written before about LEGO model ships. Many of those were fairly small but there were some mantelpiece-worthy models, starting with 398 USS Constellation in 1977. Many years later were two Maersk container ships (10152/10155 and 10241), one of which (the Triple-E) had a proper model ship stand. Then we had 21313 Ship in a Bottle for really small mantelpieces and 10294 Titanic for really big ones. Now, three years after the Titanic set, LEGO is releasing the 10335 Endurance, a model of a ship that was built three years after Titanic and sank three years after Titanic.
