LEGO has started a new LEGO Ideas building contest with the Build Your Nostalgia – 90s Throwback! in which the winning build will become an official set. You are now asked to build your favorite scene from a 90s show or movie. They already did the 80s a few months back and we will be getting The Goonies (1985)and Gizmo from Gremlins in the near future. There are two parts to this challenge, The Opening Act, which you can use up to 5,000 parts to recreate your scene. The other part is The Next Chapter, going live January 7, and is a collaboration with Target to build a smaller scene up to 1,000 pieces. In September, LEGO announced a partnership with Formula 1. At the recent Las Vegas Grand Prix at the end of November they revealed a wave of F1 branded sets, from Duplo to Technic and a lot in between. So as the 2024 season wraps up in Abu Dhabi, let me show you around the themes and sets that have come before that connected F1 and LEGO. One of the new LEGO Seasonal gift with purchase sets releasing soon is the Ballerina & Nutcracker Scene (40701). It has 244 pieces and will be available December 6-31 with purchases of $150, while supplies last. Minifigure The only minifigure in the set is the ballerina. She wears your typical ballet outfit with the torso being a new print. She also has a tutu which is somewhat a rare part as it hasn’t been used that much. Her accessory is a nanofigure of the Nutcracker. Build The set is based on Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and features the ballerina dancing to the scene. The front of the set has a stage area for the ballerina and it uses a splat gear mechanism to move her from one side to the other. The LEGO Group has announced new initiatives to support fans with non-visible disabilities, conditions, and sensory needs. They have also revealed some LEGO sets and the first toys to feature the official Sunflower lanyard in a new partnership with Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. These new sets include the LEGO DUPLO First Time at the Airport (10443), LEGO Friends Heartlake City Airport and Airplane (42656), and LEGO Icons Tudor Corner (10350).
