If you’ve been on LEGO Pick a Brick the past week or so, you may have been disappointed to see that they have paused Standard Service for North America. First noticed by New Elementary, there are thousands of elements that cannot be purchased anymore except for the Bestsellers and LEGO has put up a banner notice. As of this post there are only 1,535 elements available for purchase with 1,455 of them in the Bestsellers list. LEGO’s Standard Service ships out of Billund, Denmark while the Bestsellers are shipped from Illinois. There’s no official statement on why LEGO paused Standard Service but we can assume it is the result of the removal of the De Minimis exemption which started yesterday. LEGO has officially revealed the next LEGO Ideas set coming soon with Gremlins: Gizmo (21361). Releasing on October 1 (pre-order today), the set has 1,125 pieces and will retail for $109.99. Gizmo was one of the winners in the LEGO Ideas If We Can Turn Back Time building contest last April. The set features a brick-built model of the little Mogwai that can be displayed either standing or sitting. The head can also rotate while the ears, arms, hands, and fingers have articulation. Gizmo also comes with a pair of brick-built 3D glasses and a water splash piece for some foreshadowing of what’s to come when he gets wet. LEGO has announced an upcoming LEGO Star Wars livestream for a new mystery set on September 4 at 9:15am ET/6:15 PT. The only hint that is given is that it is for something BIG. There’s nothing else Star Wars rumored for 2025 except for the usual suspect and if you’ve been online the past few weeks, you probably know what it is. Yesterday was the officially reveal of the LEGO Icons Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship (10365) and one of the main questions about it was why is it not named the Black Pearl. Obviously it was the name given in the movies and even the first movie of the franchise was called Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl but why did LEGO not go with that name? Commenting as a response to a question on Instagram, LEGO gave a very brief and corporate response: The name reflects an internal creative decision by the LEGO Group and The Walt Disney Company. The answer doesn’t really give an actual explanation of why the set isn’t named the Black Pearl but raises more questions. Does the words “Black Pearl” have some bad meaning to it? The LEGO Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Collectible Minifigures (71050) comes out in September and we have a hands-on look at the new set. There are 12 different characters from the movie and each mystery box retails for $4.99 each. There is also a 6 pack (66797) that you can currently pre-order. Miles Morales/Spider-Man Miles Morales/Spider-Man has the updated suit with some blue accents as well as electricity printing on the arms and the front torso. His hands are also light blue for his Venom Strike ability. He does come with two heads, a regular one with happy and angry expressions, and the other with his mask that has electricity coming from the eyes. His accessory is a black spider. The LEGO Group has announced their earnings from the first half of 2025 and the company has seen double digit growth compared to last year. Revenue grew 12% to a record DKK 34.6 billion up from DKK 31.0 billion last year while consumer sales increased 13%. There were 314 sets launched already and the top themes include LEGO City, LEGO Technic, LEGO Botanicals, LEGO Icons and, LEGO Star Wars.
