LEGO Community Headlines and Highlights for August 2025
August brought no shortage of great LEGO content from around the globe! Here at BrickNerd, we travelled to BrickCon.PH in the Philippines, Paredes de Coura in Portugal, Comic-Con in San Diego, BSBT in Germany, and even to Epic Universe in Florida to help LEGO Toothless find the real one! We built a battle pack of trees, an Iron Man mini bust, an awesome Nerd Mech, the new One Piece sets, and a slightly disturbing long-arm Benny.
We talked to builders about minifig-scale Pokémon characters, a fabulous national park collaboration, and an impressive cheese slope mosaic while delving into the history and meaning of FROGust. We even explored Middle Earth, started a First LEGO League team, looked at physical and inspirational tools for MOC builders, and explored the engineering principles and polygons needed for SHIPtember.
In fact, we’ve published so many interesting articles in August that we’ve included an interactive calendar of them at the bottom of this post, so you can make sure you haven’t missed a thing. Ben Cossy: Giant 17-Foot Long LEGO Pirate Diorama
View this terrific collaboration from 12 builders displayed at Brickvention 2025. It has a great cohesive look, and the open water areas create negative space to keep the build from looking too cluttered.
Beyond the Brick: Huge LEGO Boeing 777 Airplane with Full Interior
Jack Carleson shows off another one of his impressive planes at BrickFair 2025. You can also read more about Jack and his design process here, as well as learning about his generosity and some unique experiences.
Beyond the Brick: Massive LEGO Middle Eastern-Inspired City
This large collaborative build was displayed at BrickFair 2025. 30 AFOLs contributed to the display, which has grown significantly since the original debut in 2024. Depicting the architecture and cultural influences of a middle eastern city allows for some fun building methods and storytelling.
Blocks Magazine: Brickmasters Amy Corbett and Boone Langston talk LEGO Masters Jr.
LEGO Masters Junior has finally arrived in the US, and this article gives some great insight from the Brickmasters’ perspective. With only two judges, I’ve always assumed that one of them must have seniority to break a tie. So, does this mean that Amy has gotten a well-deserved promotion?

R.R. Slugger: LEGO Fabuland Amusement Park
Stop-motion photography is often used in storytelling using LEGO elements, but this is the first time I have seen Fabuland stop-motion. While the actual amount of animation is more simplified, it seems appropriate for this building system, originally geared towards younger fans.
Rebrickable: MOC Review - Demogorcid by Jayfa
Probably not what the LEGO designers had in mind when designing the Botanical collection, this monster/orchid mashup is splendid. But what else would you expect from a LEGO Masters-winning contestant. Bonus points for a groan-worthy (in a good way) pun title.
Richtermat: Battle at Arlong Park
LEGO Designer Matthias produced a fun little video to introduce his latest set (75638). While the official company marketing materials are great, this promo brings some much needed personality to the party!
Sam Builds: LEGO Sued Nintendo
This short video tells a little-known story of LEGO suing Nintendo over the short-lived NB Nintendo blocks. Did the product disappear because of the lawsuit or did another factor contribute to LEGO dominating this product category?
StoneWars: LEGO Smart Brick System Coming in 2026?
While we don’t cover rumors here at BrickNerd, this article offers a potential glimpse into a smart brick system coming soon. Using publicly accessible information such as patents, there appears to be potential for a charging pad capability in addition to lights, sounds, and possibly even Minifigure chip interaction. This will be interesting to follow in the coming months!
The Brothers Brick: Building Ground-Based LEGO Tableaus
