In addition to being the grandmother of Prince William and Harry, Queen Elizabeth II is known for her love of Corgis. She has owned several over the years and, if given the chance, would probably adopt this glorious puppy built by BrickinNick. BrickinNick’s chibi-like design is simply adorable, from the dog’s panting mouth and big eyes to the cape on its back and tilted crown. The small arches also make for nice, little, perky ears. I can almost feel the warm and wet puppy kisses! The Queen recently lost the last of her famous pack of Corgis, a dog named Willow who starred with Daniel Craig in the 2012 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremonies. Our condolences to Her Majesty. I was never satisfied with LEGO’s attempt at a microscale Republic Gunship (also known as an LAAT) from the 2013 advent calendar, as it lacked the signature long engines, unless that’s what the binocular piece is supposed to represent. So a few days ago, since I’m working on a larger Star Wars microscale build, I thought I would try my hand at a micro LAAT, then a day later, I ended up with these two. Although I wasn’t worried about part count, these use only 19 pieces each, just five more than LEGO’s version. Check out the video instructions below — there are picture versions, and a video that goes a bit more in depth on how to build this cute little model. I have also included a link to download the decal sheet I made, so you can print it out yourself as well. Here is the link to download...

Star Wars has touched many generations. The movies, TV shows, games, and books have the power to influence and inspire LEGO builders to explore the many styles, iconic shapes, and infinite possibilities in that galaxy far, far away. We pulled together the Top 10 of our favourites that could deservingly and easily be featured as a vehicle the in movies. Sidewinder by Rail Blade A cousin vehicle of the Millennium Falcon, perhaps? Imperial Snow Speeder by Ian Ying A cold-adapted speeder bike meant for the ice planet Hoth! Enth Star Fighter by Jake RF A ship in the shape of the letter Enth in Aurabesh (the characters used to represent the common language Basic in the Star Wars universe). Kh-1 Vulture by BobDeQuatre A vehicle perfect for a bounty hunter or assassin. YT-1740 By ZiO Chao A mashup with subtle hints of many favourites, including The Defender-class light corvette from the Old...

Omar Ovalle is a big-time Star Wars fan with a passion for customizing classic Technic figures from a galaxy far, far away. Omar wowed The Brothers Brick readers with his Endor scout trooper back in 2016. Quite a bit of time has passed since then, but he is back at it again with fully articulated versions of Darth Vader, Han Solo and Jango Fett. I’m really loving the Darth Vader, which cleverly incorporates the head of the 1998 Technic cyborg villain. Jango Fett also looks pretty sharp, and Han Solo’s hand-made vest and holster are cute details. Han is reaching for his blaster, adding fuel to the controversy as to who shot first. LEGO introduced the first Technic figure in 1986 and the last sets to include them were released in 2000. It’s a shame they are no longer in production because, as Omar has demonstrated, they had a lot of potential...

Johnny Thunder would be proud of this epic ride from iamkritch. Named the Black Crow 4×4 (thanks to its special hood ornament), this off-road vehicle has just about everything you might need in traveling through the desert to an archaeological dig-site. The roof is covered in crates filled with useful tools, and there is even a fold-out awning to beat the heat on sunny summer days. And what would an adventure be without bringing man’s best friend along for the ride? The black, brown & gold color scheme of this Land Rover-like vehicle works well, giving off a rugged but classy-looking appearance. However, the gold trim makes me wonder if our little explorer is melting down priceless artifacts to customize his ride. If so, he had better watch out for Indiana Jones who is probably already hunting down his father’s missing shirt. The post A 4×4 fit for an adventurer...and a...

Warhammer 40,000 (40K) is a very iconic tabletop game, both with its gameplay and its unique art style. Said art style has inspired many builders to create LEGO Warhammer models, most recently Faber Mandragore with his Blood Angels Captain In Terminator Armour build. The chunky mecha and monsters with oversized weapons and edgy elements are just charming in a twisted way. The builder has captured the feel of this style perfectly, even adding a little base much like the original figures. Various curves are achieved using all sorts of curved pieces – including car hood elements as oversized shoulderpads. I really like the hammer construction using gray ingot parts and the use of the U.F.O. alien helmet as the head. Faber has also shared an armored Rune Priest, so perhaps we can look forward to a whole series of LEGO Warhammer units and character classes. The post Prepare your 40,000 dice...

The arrival of the tiny Classic LEGO Space microfigure in the recent 5005358 Minifigure Factory set was bound to prompt a batch of teeny-tiny space creations. Andreas Lenander‘s microscale space truck is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping to see — impressively detailed and greeble-covered for the scale, spot-on in its colour scheme, and super-cute to boot. The rocky “tan-scaping” around the build creates a nice alien landscape feel (and the figures are well positioned to conceal those unsightly bases behind the boulders). And is there a little hint of Optimus Prime in the truck’s “face”? I think there is, and it makes me like this even more. LEGO has unveiled a new set based on Marvel’s upcoming film Ant-Man and The Wasp named 76109 Quantum Realm Explorers. The set contains 200 pieces, three minifigures, and will be available for purchase June 1 for $19.99 USD. The set features the titular heroes and presumably the villain of the film as well as a Quantum Vehicle. The scene from the film that the set is based on can be seen in the recently released trailer. The set comes with three minifigures (or should we say full-scale figures in this case!?) including Ant-Man, The Wasp and Ghost. Ant-Man has only appeared in two sets so far including 76039 Ant-Man Final Battle based on the hero’s first solo movie, and 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle based on Captain America: Civil War (including an Ant-Man constructible big-fig and a nano-fig). The Quantum Vehicle features a bug-eye-shaped cockpit, adjustable arms, a few stud shooters, and...

LEGO builder Jarek is pretty much the undisputed king of Star Wars ships, routinely making the most accurate and gorgeously intricate vehicles from a galaxy far, far away ever to be built of bricks. He’s been on a roll lately with the Imperial Navy, starting with a TIE Fighter and TIE Interceptor, then upgrading to the heavy TIE Bomber. But now Jarek’s moved up the chain even further, to Darth Vader’s personal spacecraft, the prototype TIE Advanced. Jarek again uses the incredible cockpit shaping he developed for the classic TIE Fighter model that uses 3×3 quarter dome elements to give the cockpit the truly spherical shape that’s missing from most LEGO TIE models (including official sets like the recent 75211 Imperial TIE Fighter. Among the incredible details Jarek’s managed to pack in are the access bays on the front of each wing pylon to the forward deflector shield arrays. In back,...

Sleek and grey and deadly — a predator slips through the swell. At least that’s the image conjured up by Luis Peña‘s latest LEGO creation — a microscale model of a Porter-class US Navy destroyer. Although small in scale and simple in colour selection, this model manages to pack in some nice details and textures. I particularly like the use of “Wolverine claws” and quarter-circle tiles in the creation of the ship’s anti-aircraft emplacements. The Porter was a class of eight heavy destroyers in the United States Navy. Although originally commissioned by Congress in 1916, construction was delayed and the first of the vessels didn’t enter service until 1936. The destroyers went on to see action throughout the Second World War. Only one, USS Porter herself, was to be lost in action.
