Even in LEGO form, a Neomorph is a terrifying thing to behold. RC Darman‘s most recent creation perfectly captures the horror that is Alien Covenant‘s nighttime wheat field scene. This Neomorph (which is an almost adorable cousin of the Xenomorph) looks lightning fast and is perfectly proportioned. Darman’s figs are also spot on (especially Daniels with that hair!) but I get the feeling they’ll need more than a little luck to make it through the night. I certainly couldn’t guess what’s on Timofey Tkachev’s mind with this sculpture, but I sure do know that I like it because it’s not your typical build but a peek into an artist’s own emotions. Over and above the mystery of the mind, the exterior shaping leaves you wondering about the techniques used to sculpt a 3D skull. Such a masterpiece indeed. If you’ve ever strolled through the streets of downtown Cleveland, you’ll definitely recognize Spencer Rezkalla‘s most recent microscale creation. It’s Key Tower, the tallest building in Ohio! This build is chock full of amazing building techniques like SNOT and some weird, half-plate offsettings. Spencer even included the Marriott and Society for Savings buildings, making his tiny city block match the original one perfectly. If you happen to be within driving distance of “The Land,” you can see Spencer’s creation in person at the Great Lakes Science Center’s Build it! exhibit going on right now. A meeting with the Supreme Life President of Hell sounds worse than a visit to the dentist for root canal treatment. Thanks to zgrredek, Terry Pratchett’s Discworld character of Astfgl has been brought to life in LEGO,  complete with a pile of paperwork to shuffle through. Discworld fans will know that Astfgl revolutionized Hell by moving away from physical torture and instead turned Hell into a mind-numbing bureaucracy. The figure of Astfgl is perfect  with those clasped hands and evil grin. You can tell he’s just waiting to hand you a pile of impossibly long forms for completion. Without a doubt, the star of this build is the cracked, ‘fires of Hell’ floor with glowing embers. Presumably in advance of the impending release of summer 2017 LEGO Star Wars sets, Amazon.com is heavily discounting a number of sets from The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and Rebels. 75148 Encounter on Jakku from The Force Awakens is a whopping 40% off, listed at only $35.76 (down from $60). This is the only set so far that includes Unkar Plutt, and the Luggabeast with Teedo is definitely the highlight of the set. 75154 TIE Striker from Rogue One is 34% off $45.88. We thought this set wasn’t worth the full $70 price tag when we reviewed the LEGO TIE Striker, but this is definitely a much more palatable price for 543 pieces. Check out this LEGO mech built by… me! I’m Peter — your newest contributor here at The Brothers Brick. I built this over the course of a few weeks, using some new parts I accumulated on various visits to my local flea market. These include a lipstick piece, a screwdriver, and a shiny octagonal sign. The mech’s overall shape is inspired by the concept art C12 Chassis by Aaron Beck, but I went my own direction on the detailing. Going into this build I knew I wanted a certain aesthetic, similar to a type of drone by LEGO Cyberpunk enthusiast Bezoar-1. The key to this style is many printed tiles, and lots of little blotches of color, one of which must be turquoise. Optimus Prime is an ever-popular subject for modelling in LEGO bricks. Just recently we featured an impressively large Transformers city scene featuring the big ol’ truck-bot. However, it’s not often we see such cute details at small scale as in Peter Reid‘s latest creation. Immediately recognisable, this great little build has a nice depth of texture despite its size. I can’t help but provide my own soundtrack to this model — Peter Cullen’s tones pitch-shifted up to Calvin And The Chipmunks levels of squeakiness. A wide mouthful of sharp dragon teeth is probably the last thing any LEGO knight wants to see. But this dragon bust by Aaron Newman looks pretty cool all the same. Personally I love a good LEGO dragon, and this one delivers on all fronts. The “generic” dragon head shape is hard to achieve in bricks, but is created perfectly here. I’d normally advise builders to avoid giving their dragons teeth — it’s tough to get them looking good. But Aaron has pulled it off nicely. In addition, the colour scheme works well, with pastel shades complementing the main white, giving a “realistic” Frost Drake look. The bust is a scaled-up version of Aaron’s older minifig scale dragon, Fyaska the Unladylike.
