The first official picture of the soon-to-be-released LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith set can be found right now on the Amazon.co.uk page. Although the set has not been unveiled yet, the online retailer used a rendered image of the set as the title one for the Ideas theme. The original idea was submitted to the platform by Clemens Fiedler (Namirob) back in 2017, successfully gained 10,000 fan votes, and was finally approved by the review board almost a year ago. LEGO Ideas, the company’s crowd-sourcing platform that turns fans’ ideas into real-life sets, is best known for products like 21322 Pirates of Baracuda Bay or 21323 Grand Piano. But LEGO Ideas isn’t just for massive sets that will break the bank. Last May LEGO tested out a small Ideas set as a giveaway, resulting in 40335 Space Rocket Ride. And now the latest Ideas set, 40448 Vintage Car, follows in its footsteps as a giveaway. If it was tricky enough to put together a shortlist of the best LEGO creations of 2020, but narrowing it down to a single “best model” proved even harder. Every model on the shortlist was excellent, and there was much debate amongst the team. However, after a great deal of discussion, The Brothers Brick is delighted to announce Koen Zwanenburg‘s Tutankhamun Mask as our LEGO Creation of the Year 2020. The mask is a beautiful piece of LEGO sculpture, employing a wide variety of parts to create all the shapes required — Bionicle and Hero Factory pieces used in the face, a bewildering range of bricks in Pearl Gold, a Technic frame within the stand, and stunning use of dinosaur tail parts to create the curved stripes of the headdress.
