Minifigs of Spooky Season: The Final Nightmare [Minifig Monday]
Halloween is over, so it’s time to retire the jack-o-lanterns and put away the ghosts and plastic spiders (unless you’re in Australia, in which case it’s just spiders all the time). But before we close the book on spooky season, let’s take one last look back at the chilling minifig creations with costumes and creatures!
Let’s jolt things to life with this incredible take on Frankenstein and the Monster from Garret (2p_figs). These are characters that have been recreated so many times in LEGO, but Garret makes them his own with some brilliant choices, like using Nute Gunray’s head for the monster’s face and Tasha’s buckle-heavy torso for the doctor. Incredible staging too!
frankytea_lego creates a grizzly scene from the dark corners of Fleet Street. I hear the pies there are delicious!
Love The Addams Family and Wednesday but aren’t a fan of minidolls? gcbricks recreates the altogether ooky family as minifigs. My favorites are Cousin Itt and the uncannily perfect Fester made from Gru minifig with the eyebrows erased. Of course Wendsday brings her friend Thing…
Did someone say Thing? stuntmanbrick pays tribute to one of my all-time favorite monster movies. That MacReady fig is a dead ringer for 80s Kurt Russell.
farawaybricks spent Halloween week building a series of Star Wars minifigure vignettes featuring original character Sepp Devil on a spooky adventure. Here the hero takes on Vader’s ghost in a creepy woods. Blasters work perfectly for branches, but the best detail with the trees has to be the one sliced through by lightsaber.
Haon.brx created this fearsome scarecrow companion for the Greymane Guild RPG. I appreciate how the scarecrow feels completely at home in a minifig world. The lamp design is chilling too.
The Brickdwarf also offers a scene of a seasonal stroll with a pair of pumkin-headed characters enjoying the fall leaves. It’s impressive how much personality the characters have even without faces.
BricksnBeasts also builds a family of flora, but decidedly more haunted! This might be the first time DUPLO has featured on a Minifig Monday roundup? Love the hockey masks and that Strange solution for the big tree’s tongue!
cynthia_brickbuilds builds delightful habitats and mosaics and this Halloween entered her fist custom minifig challenge with this spirted ghost. I love the mix of heavy chains and ethereal body.
Brick My Back summons a character called the Murkmonger. It features a really fun combo of elements around the head, evoking billowing smoke.
Natashia (_motherofcatdragons_) pushes battiness to the limit with this Fright Knight based demon warrior.
Last week, many Minifig Monday regulars worked on a color-themed challenge. TBB contributor Expansion Bricks drafted orange and came up with this incredible pumpkin spice samurai. I love the use of a fireman’s vest flipped around as samurai armor.
beyondb0nes and my_brick_picks collabed on a pair of Vampires. The choice of printed elements is perfect and I love the characters’ expressions.
TBB contributor Brennen (brickbot_studio) also assembles a nest of vampires with his his usual dark flare. The brick-built crossbow design is slick.
Builder piotrbricks celebrates Halloween with a tribute to Swedish metal band Ghost. It’s also our second appearance of Nute Gunay parts today!
Ghost band? Haru_bonks says, hold my pumpkin beer. The builder assembles a spirited quartet. My favorite member is saxophonist Shy Dolph: “I’m not antisocial—it’s just that the music sounds better when I play inside my coffin.”
Finally, a bit of cursed media from chicken_leviathan based on a design by dryptopic. Apparently this footage was captured after hours at a local pizza chain.
