Life is a LEGO highway as Vignweek day 4 goes road tripping [Feature]

Placeholder Image

Vignweek 2025 crosses the halfway point with the fourth daily challenge prompt: “Road trip!” Once again, incredible builders heeded the call and quickly assembled LEGO vignettes interpreting the theme in a myriad of ways. Let’s have a look at some of our  favorite builds of the day.

Fresh off judging the Summer Joust, LEGO legend CheesyStudios drops by Vignweek with this incredible tribute to Badlands National Park. The forced perspective works brilliantly, and the striated rocks with the bands of sand red are stunning.

Badlands Overlook

_BrickBytes hits the road with cozy VW camper van. The metallic fists as a grille is a brilliant use of a specialized part.

New Horizons

CRCT Productions takes us to Iceland for a bit of off-roading. Iceland has a beautiful ring road around the island that can be easily driven most of the year, but to fully explore the county requires a 4×4 and river crossings like this. The vehicle and terrain are both stellar builds.

Into the Icelandic Wilderness

BrickStig captures a moment of family stress from the pre-GPS era, along with an excellent compact station wagon build.

StigsCar

Sash1000 shows that even having a smartphone is no guarantee you’ll reach your destination with this scene of a GPS fail.

Never trust the GPS...

Claire Childress is a builder whose only shared LEGO models are Vignweek builds. She shows an impressive eye for detail with this road trip pit stop. I love the birds snacking on donuts.

Soda Stop - Built for #Vignweek2025 #lego

Nathaniel Chiles takes the prize for the best dad joke with this very literal take on road trip. Road… trip… get it? Love the microbuild car on the knee.

RoadTripPun

Although Martin steals my heart with this recreation of one of the best sight gags in all of filmdom. Now I can’t get Kermit and Fozzie singing “Movin’ Right Along” out of my head, which is fine, as 44 years later, it’s still a banger.

Movin' Right Along ????

History student Joël Jurg again offers insights into the classical world with a brilliant vignette demonstrating how roman roads were constructed. The fact that may miles of these roads are still pristine 2000 years later (MM to any romans reading this) is a testament to Roman engineering. Figrin D’an’s head makes for a perfect sack.

RomanRoad

gioialego‘s travel tribute references Shinichi Sakamoto’s ‘The Climber’ manga. We see mountaineer  Buntarō Katō carrying a 200lb load. As much as I love hiking, I’ll stick to lightweight gear, thank you.

TheClimber

Carson Lacy‘s spin on the theme features alien road trippers in a hover station wagon. I appreciate the subtle sci-fi nods while staying mostly grounded (inasmuch as a hovercraft can be grounded).

Alien Family Road Trip

Mork Builds also soups up a classic road trip vehicle with a sci-fi touch with this souped up motorhome. The vehicle sports some excellent detailing  with the brown stripes.

MorkBuildsVan

Casey (lambbricks) shares what might be my favorite build of the day with this microscale tribute to the roadside dinosaurs on Route 66.

Dinoroadtrip

Grant Decker captures the freedom of the road with this microscale escape from the city into the wild.

The Road Goes Ever On

Erin Dempsey‘s microscale build is notable for the brick-built horizon. My favorite detail is the grill plates used for the plowed wheat fields.

Into the West

building_after_dark presents an armored vehicle perfect for navigating the wastelands of a world in ruins.  There are so many fun details and clever techniques in the vignette.

AfterDarkRoadtrip

ILB_Productions is also ready to ride eternal on the fury road with this impressive war rig.

Vignweek 2025 Day 4: Road trip

Finally, Vignweek staple and Conquering Hero of Summer Joust 2025  Syrdarian encourages us to take things slow with this cozy forest take on the road trip. The riding snail reminds me of The Neverending Story, one of my favorite books/films.

Slow Roadtrip

We’ll be back tomorrow with a roundup of day 5’s entries!
