Star Wars has released the official trailer for the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past which is coming September 19. The new four piece special continues the story of Sig Greebling and his quest to fix the galaxy. This season also introduces a new villain named Solitus who we can find in a new LEGO set to tie into the special called The Force Burner Snowspeeder (75414). As BrickNerd’s resident cursed build expert, I was given the sacred duty of… having fun with LEGO One Piece 75638 Battle at Arlong Park. What’s so cursed about it? LONG ARM LUFFY! I bet he can always reach to top shelf Look at all the fun things this minifigure can do! But let’s take a quick peek at the set before we get into the full fig funkiness. Battle at Arlong Park Luffy loves his friends, and Battle at Arlong Park comes with the third and fourth member to join the Straw Hat Pirates: Nami & Usopp. Best friends! Of course they need some bad guys to fight, right? Here we have some Fish-Men, Arlong, and Chu. Arlong leads the Arlong Pirates, the main antagonists in the first season of One Piece. Chu is an officer in Arlong’s crew. I wonder what figbarg the afol community will come up with using...

As I said in my previous Quick Build article, sometimes there’s a LEGO set that attracts me a lot. This happened with 76327 Iron Man MK4 Bust. Often, an upcoming set works like an inspiration for me to build something new and gives me all sorts of ideas. The official Iron Man Bust LEGO set that was released recently. This is why I decided to do a smaller version of the bust. Like always, I started with the helmet (or head when it’s a different character). Scale-wise, it seemed that a 2x2 footprint is perfect for the small scale. Fun fact: the official 76327 Iron Man MK4 Bust set was designed by LEGO designer Mark Stafford. There is an interesting story about how Mark Stafford “killed” the color teal back in the day, when he was faced with the challenge to choose between teal and purple. He had to pick one...

Today’s article comes from several BrickNerd contributors, all experiencing LEGO One Piece in different ways. Some of us have been sailing with the Straw Hat Pirates for decades while others are just now setting foot on deck. Join us as we learn a bit about the manga, build some LEGO sets, and see how the experience of One Piece can differ drastically from one builder to the next. One Piece From Many LEGO Pieces - Brian Hickey In 1997, Eiichiro Oda debuted his manga, One Piece, in a monthly magazine called Weekly Shōnen Jump. What spawned from that issue is one of the largest global franchises Western audiences may not have heard of. The adventures of the protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, have spawned over 100 volumes with more than 1,000 chapters. It was first adapted for the screen in 1999 for an anime series that has continued to air over 1,000...

Today’s guest article comes from Zach Wolin, a builder and LEGO fan in New York who loves discovering amazing builders and cool MOCs in the LEGO community. Building Minifig-Scale Pokémon In the world of LEGO creations, small-scale builds have always fascinated me. With fewer parts to work with, builders must be selective about what pieces they use and how they use them. It takes an eye for detail and a knack for identifying which features are essential to portray the subject. Today, we’re looking at a builder who excels at this skill, Radioactive Cheese, who creates fantastic minifig-scale renditions of his favorite Pokémon. His builds caught my attention with clever part choices and combinations that capture each Pokémon’s likeness at an impressively small scale. At this size, the key is to emphasize defining features rather than every detail, and Cheese has a sharp sense for exactly what to include. Cheese kindly...

the Entrance to Epic Universe On June 13th, the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon released to theaters. To coincide with the film release, LEGO revealed 10375 How to Train Your Dragon: Toothless a few days later. The set was released on July 1st and is available now. Coincidentally (or not coincidentally) less than a month before the movie’s release, Universal’s new theme park Epic Universe opened to the public in Orlando, FL… with an entire section of the new theme park dedicated to the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. Fortunately for me, Epic Universe is located basically in my backyard, so it was kind of a no-brainer that I had to take the LEGO Toothless around Epic Universe to explore the land of Berk (thanks to BrickNerd for the ticket and LEGO for the set!).  Exploring the Universe Our day started like any other at a theme...

Today’s guest article comes from “Fletcher Floyd” who was affected by the recent disastrous flooding in Germany. He shares his experience of recovering what he could of his LEGO collection after the flood, what to expect when cleaning mud off of LEGO, and what storage solutions either helped or hindered when it came to water damage. This story originally appeared in German on the Rogue Bricks forum and has been translated and republished here with permission. Fletcher’s Flood For a while “Apoca” was a popular theme in MOCs – but what does it look like when your very own LEGO collection gets hit by the apocalypse? I experienced this exact scenario and as a result have written this little report. For context, my family and I were affected by the flood in Germany’s Ahr Valley but were very lucky compared to others. The fire brigade evacuated us early and our apartment...

Today’s guest article is written by Okay Yaramanoglu, a prolific MOC builder and LEGO reviewer from the Eurobricks Reviewers Academy days. You can find his work on Flickr, Rebrickable, YouTube, and on Eurobricks. Meet Mecha Team Leader I have a confession to make. I have never played Fortnite, not even the LEGO version. However, when the pictures of this Care Bear-Voltron-looking thing were released, I was intrigued because I do love giant robots. So, when BrickNerd reached out to me to potentially take a look at 77078 Mecha Team Leader, I happily accepted! LEGO boasts that this is one of the best mechs they’ve ever made. Is this true? To assess this statement, we need to look back at LEGO’s history of mechs first. A Brief Look at LEGO Mechs Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine a time when LEGO didn't make any mechs, but they used to be pretty uncommon. LEGO’s...

This year we received a Deluxe goody-box-set This year was the ten-year anniversary of Paredes de Coura Fan Weekend. To mark this milestone, let’s take a look at the history of the event, the LUG behind the event, and the AFOL Networking Events program. That story begins twenty years ago in 2005 when an ambitious LEGO employee , Jan Beyer, had the opportunity to organise a LEGO event in the small town of Skaerbaek in Denmark (or Skærbæk in proper Danish spelling). He took the opportunity and helped create the “LEGO Fan Weekend.” Jan’s intention was to take the AFOL hobby to the next level. He wanted to encourage AFOLs to look beyond borders, visit LEGO events abroad, and build an international network of LEGO friends. Considering the number of AFOLs now travelling to all corners of the world to attend events, I think he succeeded. Arte em Peças Nineteen years ago...
