The LEGO Shop has quietly rolled out a huge quality of life feature for using your Insiders points for discounts. When you’re checking out the cart, there’s a new option to use custom discounts on your orders. Before this change, you had to redeem your discounts in the Rewards Center then use the provided code to get the discount but you can now just directly use it in the shopping cart. It also tells you how many points you have and the value of your points in dollars. The minimum discount is $5 which uses 650 Insiders points and each additional dollar discount is 130 points. It features a brick-built board but the most interesting thing about it are the amount of white and orange space astronaut minifigures included. At Bricks Cascade 2024, my kids discovered the joy of a LEGO Derby. As I wrote in a previous article, a Brick Derby is a Pinewood Derby but swapping pine for plastic. When we asked our soon-to-be 9-year-old what he wanted to do for his birthday this year, it wasn’t much of a surprise when he chose a Backyard Brick Derby. Obviously, we said yes, but we had to get to work to pull it off. Ramps and Race Cars To make a ramp, I’d need help in the woodworking department.
