Way back in March, LEGO announced that they will be producing LEGO plant elements using plant-based plastic in a move to use sustainable materials in a majority of the products and packaging by 2030. The first set that has been released using this initiative is the Plants from Plants (40320) set. You can get for free from now until until August 14 with purchases of $35 or more, while supplies last. The box is a small one similar to the small Creator sets. What’s interesting about the box is that there’s printing of the perforated push box but it doesn’t work, instead, I just cut open the tape and to my surprise, the box isn’t actually perforated. The contents include two bags and a leaflet. The leaflet gives you a short background story of what the the plant sustainable parts are. From what has been announced, the new plant pieces are...

Breaking Bad is one of my favorite shows of all time. Watching lowly chemistry teacher Walter White's transformation into the criminal mastermind Heisenberg was thrilling television. LEGO 7 made a fantastic MOC of Heisenberg at work. Lots of great details here, one of my favorites being the custom Golden Moth Chemical decal on the drum. It's best to stay out of his territory... Builder MDSWIM imagines the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast with a little less romance and a lot more machine oil. Meet Belle and the Beast, two mobile suits that are turning this story on it's head. I do have to wonder how it might be possible for beast to imprison her in his castle, I think she'd just kick his ass.  Original linkOriginal author: Tommy

The next series of reviews that I will be doing are for the new LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter sets that have just recently been released and the first set I’ll be taking a look at is Aragog’s Lair (75950) which is a scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It is the second smallest set in the wave coming in at 157 pieces and retails for $14.99. The contents of the box include three unnumbered bags and a small instructions booklet. Minifigures There are only two minifigures in the set, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Harry has on a dark blue jacket over a blue shirt with short gray legs. He has a double-sided head with smile on one side and a scared expression on the other. He does have a new disheveled hair piece which looks good on him. His accessories include a new short wand piece...

Last week I ran a contest for some SDCC 2018 LEGO swag including some posters and the Jessica Cruz minifigure. The contest is now over with over 8,600 entries and the winner is: Cesar R. I’ve already contacted the winner and have already gotten shipping information. That’s why I waited to announce the winner because I didn’t want to change it if I didn’t get a response and had to choose another winner. Stay tuned as I’ll have another giveaway pretty soon for something different. The post LEGO SDCC 2018 Swag Pack Giveaway Winner appeared first on The Brick Fan. Many of us Star Wars nerds can agree that Solo was not the greatest movie of the franchise, however, polywen reminds us that it did bring some awesome new material to the table such as L3-37. With the sarcasm of an R2 unit, the excitement of a mouse droid, the body of K-2SO, and the charisma of a gonk droid, what's not to like? Ok, maybe that last part about the gonk droid is not totally accurate. Nonetheless I still believe that this character has a lot of potential for the future of Star Wars movies and who knows? Maybe now that she's part of the Millennium Falcon we might see a Star Wars spinoff movie where she goes on a rampage to free all the droids. Original linkOriginal author: Andrew Eden

When traveling along classic Route 66 be sure to stop by Radiator Springs! I was fortunate enough to see this awesome recreation of the town from Pixar's classic Cars in person at BrickCon last year. Builder Keith Reed has faithfully recreated the entire town, from Mater's junk yard to the town hall, all the buildings are there. Need some tires? Stop in at Luigi's. Hungry? Head over to Flo's. You can spend an entire day here, you just need to get off the interstate. Original linkOriginal author: Tommy

Isn't it funny how sometimes a MOC takes on a life of it's own? You set out to build one thing, but through whatever magic the bricks get their way and you end up building something else. That's sort of the origin story of this brilliant AT-ACT by Ben Cossy. What started as a little Scarif scene evolved into this colossal minifig scale walker. Original linkOriginal author: Tommy

This entry into the 2018 Summer Joust by Grant Davis is one of those MOCs that keeps you looking. There's so many details, techniques and cool part combinations that you can stare at it for whole minutes. Grant promises a video later this week featuring construction techniques and how it was built, you can bet I'll be tuning in. Original linkOriginal author: Tommy

This trio of fantastic builds and shots comes to us courtesy of the mad skills of Travis Brickle, Simon NH and Ralf Langer. The task was to show a medieval building process, so the team each built one part and assembled them into a three panel triptych. The lighting in these shots is top notch, building a real mood.
