LEGO has officially announced that the next LEGO Double Insider Points event will be happening from June 12-16. This means that you can earn more points for your purchases which also includes pre-orders for any of the upcoming summer 2024 sets. Also if you’ve been holding off on some of the new June sets like the Barad-Dur (10333), LEGO Delivery Truck (60440), or the Tuxedo Cat (21349), now will be the perfect time to get them. A while back, LEGO launched the LEGO Insiders Community which served sort of a forum/news area for AFOLs by AFOLs. LEGO today has announced that it will be shutting down June 26 and the content will be integrated into LEGO Ideas. I don’t think many people used the LEGO Insiders Community platform since it was newly launched and I didn’t really see LEGO advertising it too much. The last content update was back in March while fans sparingly posted in the forum area. Did you use this platform or did you even know about it in the first place? We wanted to share an update with you. As part of the LEGO Group’s journey to offer fantastic experiences for adult builders, we’ve decided to close the LEGO® Insiders Community platform, effective June 26, 2024. We’re eager to innovate and find more ways to connect with you and other builders, and whilst...

Welcome to the next exploration in our NPU series (Nice Parts Usage). This time on our quest we are exploring the least LEGO of LEGO themes, ZNAP! But what is ZNAP, you ask? Doesn’t look very ‘lEGO,’ does it??? ZNAP was a very short-lived theme, lasting from the fall of 1998 to the end of 1999. A total of 19 sets were released, mostly vehicle-based, with a few bizarre animals here and there. ZNAP elements sorta work like a combination of Technic and Bionicle (like K’nes), where you “znap” different pieces together. Instead of axle, pin, or stud connections, most ZNAP elements connect via a little nub that fits into a corresponding joint on the end of the beams. Our friends at Brickset took a little deep dive into the theme a few years ago that is worth reading if you want to know more. A bunch of znap connected to...

Amazon has just discounted the LEGO Ideas A-Frame Cabin (21338) by 20% off the regular retail price. The set is now listed at $143.99 which saves you $36 on the set and makes it a way better buy for the 2,082 piece set. This is the first time that Amazon has dropped it by 20% and it probably won’t last too long at this price. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. LEGO on their social media accounts looks to be teasing another LEGO Transformers announcement. The short clip shows Optimus Prime (10302) which his famous phrase “Calling All Autobots” and fades to black with the words “Who will answer the call.” It looks like we’ll be getting another Autobot set and rumor has it that it could be his Second-in-Command, Bumblebee. The official announcement could be coming real soon. Playing with various water shapes results in many amazing possibilities to photograph with LEGO. In previous articles, I demonstrated how water provided the movement for my minifigure surfer action shot as well as the perfect backdrop for minifigures at the pool.  But those are minifigures… what about using water with LEGO bricks or MOCs? The combination of geometrically strict LEGO bricks and soft shapes of water seems impossible at first. However, by augmenting your LEGO creation with water, you can get an impressive and unexpected result! Here is a DIY water-and-plastic process that you can create for your LEGO photos. What You Need A white or colored paper background Plastic bag Adhesive tape Thread Mid-sized glass Plastic syringe/baster Several LEGO creations/models (preferably transparent) with one missing element, for example, a fish without a tail. Here we have a fish, a flower, a jellyfish and a whale. Preparing for the Show Let's...

One of the small joys I had as a kid was going to check the mail for any letters, packages or LEGO catalogs sent to me. Granted, it was very rare that I ever received anything (save for the catalogs), but there was excitement in the potential of receiving something in the mail. That excitement was doubly so when I knew that I was anticipating something. [Source: Brickset] In a world where communication via text messaging and social media is instantaneous, and delivery services that guarantee one to two-day shipping straight to your front door encourage instant gratification, small joys like walking to the mailbox in anticipation of a letter or package are a rarity. Much in the way these small joys have gone to the wayside in the modern world, so too has a means of interaction once commonplace between fans and the companies they follow: fan mail. Major comic...

The Iron Giant in the Forest by hachiroku24 is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build is based on the earlier scene from The Iron Giant where Hogarth finds the robot along with the S symbol and the red car. The project joins Claw Machine Wallace & Gromit – A Grand Day Out, Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus Multi Player, Impression Sunrise – Monet, The Loneliness of the Voyager – NASA’s Voyager Mission, Artists Cafe – The University House, Humpback Whale Breach, and Tintin – Space Rocket as the ones to reach the Second 2024 Review Stage.
