Volker Brodkorb uses some of the finest techniques for a proper presentation of a new LEGO creation. Not only did he publish some eye-catching pictures of the spacecraft, but also called it a prototype and furnished illustrations with a pretty captivating background story about the COSMO Engineering Corporation and their latest spacecraft. Now I’m simply irritated I can’t read more about COSMO and see more of their vessels! But at least we have this beautiful HyperStar runner featuring some fairly simple, yet so smooth curves. Marius Herrmann has built several excellent LEGO Titans from Titanfall 2, including Ion and Northstar, along with Ronin. Now, he shows some love for the campaign’s protagonist, the lovable Marauder Corps death machine that is BT-7274. BT’s lightweight frame was captured accurately using orange, white, and custom spraypainted military green bricks. His model is detailed down to an array of individual rockets ready to fire from the shoulder-mounted missile pods. Marius has also constructed a few more of the Titans featured in the multiplayer mode. The bulky, heavily armed Legion looks ready to lay down cover fire with the massive Predator Cannon. The dark tan/dark gray color blocking is quite accurate to Legion’s default color scheme. Finally, we have Marius’s build of tracker Titan, Tone. I always love builds that use a specific part to great effect. Case in point is Takamichi Irie‘s utilization of the wings from an Ant Man LEGO set on his macro scale hornet. The shaping of the segmented body and precise colour blocking is expertly done. Not to mention the lovely combination of technic parts and robot arms for the legs. The model appears to have a fair amount of articulation, allowing for some realistic poses. Couple that with some nicely presented photographs and these shots almost appear to be out of an entomology journal. Can you picture this mech wandering across a post-apocalyptic wasteland scavenging for parts and power? Bregma Nicle has built a scavenger mech called Bad Diesel who packs plenty of attitude and more than a little intimidation into his bulky frame. I love the breathing apparatus and his ridiculously oversized weapon system. There are a host of scavenged parts that help to emphasise his hunter-gatherer nature, for example the “lobster  sighting device” on the weapon or the round light tiles from the racing buggy sets as goggles. You can see more of his scavenged equipment on show with his weapons system dismounted and on display. Bad Diesel has plenty of pose-ability despite those thunderous thighs and heavy armour. Builder FLAVIO continues his “Wiffy” series (years in the making) with one such robot fitted with twin rotors. His mech is full of brilliant parts usage, color blocking, and unique design choices; I don’t even know where to begin noting my favorite parts. Given the popularity of the manga and animated series, it’s surprising how few LEGO creations we see inspired by Dragonball Z. David Liu corrects this oversight with an adorable pair of custom BrickHeadz featuring Goku in his “Super Saiyan” form battling Frieza in his “100% Full Power” form on the planet Namek. Goku’s spiky golden hair is perfect, and the inverted purple cheese slopes add exactly the right detail to make the evil Frieza instantly recognizable. Nick Della Mora, aka BrickinNick, will host the live brick-building competition show, highlighting some of the talented builders in the AFOL community. Each show will feature a head to head battle where two builders using the same LEGO sets will build something new using the same pieces, based on a chosen theme. Australian builder Shannon Sproule has once again created a stunningly unique sci-fi model. Shannon has a real knack for being able to use a minimalist parts palette to great effect in his builds. The repeated pattern of the white tiles on the side of this craft is what initially catches the eye, but the various hits of colour throughout really make the model pop. Not only is the ORCA nice to look at, but it also would be incredibly fun to play with. With a hidden missile port in the nose and modular equipment hardpoints on the lateral pylons, she is just begging to be swooshed. For those who are not familiar with the sport of Folkracing, it’s a popular and inexpensive form of rally racing with older beat-up cars, which originated in Finland. The races take place on specially designed gravel tracks, and Nybohov Creation Ltd has created this beautifully colourful LEGO track for some micro rally cars to race around. The details and textures look fantastic, with everything from trees and foliage to landscaping with a couple of colourful buildings. The landscaping is certainly varied, but my favourite part is the little bridge which is best seen from another angle. The rules of Folkracing are different from a Demolition Derby as intentional crashes or ramming of vehicles is forbidden. I’m sure crashes do occur and it seems there has been a bit of a pile up on the track here, as the brown car is being towed away in a rather forlorn fashion. The post...
