Clockwork Solar System by ChrisOrchard is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The 3,000 piece build looks to be a resubmission of the same project that also reached the goal back in 2021 and 2022 which shows a working orrery with a 99.8% timing accuracy. The project joins Spirited Away, Appa the Sky Bison, from Avatar the Last Airbender, Venus Flytrap, Minerals Display, Dreamworks’ Shrek’s Swamp 2, Hello Kitty and Friends – 50 Years, Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch, Medieval Tournament, Cherry Blossom Ikebana, Roman Forum, Interstellar, Metallica M72 World Tour, Suitcase Express!, Outer Wilds, and Medieval inn by the Gatehouse as the ones to reach the First 2024 Review Stage. Science fiction is one of the best inspirations for custom LEGO creations, from franchises like Star Wars, Alien, Starship Troopers, Bladerunner, and many more. And there have been plenty of official sets inspired by the genre as well. But outside of Star Wars and LEGO space-related themes, there have not been very many official sets (LEGO Ideas 21340: Tales of the Space Age being a rare exception). But this changed at the start of this month. With the premiere of Dune part 2 in theaters on March 1st, one of the most iconic vehicles from the movie is finally brought to fantastic LEGO life with the release of LEGO Icons 10327 Atreides Royal Ornithopter. The set comes with 1,369 pieces, includes 8 minifigures, and is available now from LEGO.com and other retailers for US $164.99 | CAN $214.99 | UK £149.99. Unboxing the parts and instructions The front of the black,...

After it’s debut 87 years ago, an iconic structure found in an early Disney movie will finally be making its way to LEGO store shelves next month. Featuring 10 minifigures in total, LEGO Disney 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Cottage depicts the straw-roofed structure, addition to a wishing well and glass casket. All 7 dwarfs make an appearance, as well as the titular Disney princess, the Prince, and the evil Queen wielding a poison apple. The set is also strewn with a wealth of woodland critters, including a bunny, squirrel, butterfly, and plenty of birds. This slice of 1930’s animation will be available from the LEGO website beginning on March 1st for Insiders, but those not in the rewards program will have to wait three more days to get a crack at the new set. Whenever you’re able to get your hands on this 2,228-piece model, it will retail...

Today we’re going to shine some light on the shadier side of LEGO City: the crooks, robbers and other lowlifes that keep the enormous police force busy. But before we get to what apparently is a crime-riddled city, let’s look at the history of LEGO’s city themes for a little context. A Peaceful Town When LEGO Town started in 1978, police sets were among the first wave. A boat, a few motorbikes and three different patrol cars were followed a year later by a police station and a helicopter. Set 1786 Jailbreak Joe from 1995. Image via Brickset Life in the town was peaceful for nearly 20 years until 1995 when Jailbreak Joe made his escape from the police in a red and black jeep. With three vehicles sent out to chase him (a car, motorbike and helicopter), we can only assume he was captured again with ease. A few years...

The key to a great LEGO Feb-Rovery construction is picking a concept and going at it hard. Some choose to base their rover around a single part. Others take inspiration from long-lost LEGO Space factions. And yet another group may just want to work in a specific color palette. But then there are those like Maxx Davidson who take this theme month as an opportunity to answer a question that no one asked. In this case, it’s “What if mice went to the moon in search of cheese?” Following in the footsteps of Wallace and Gromit, here’s hoping these galactic gastronomes make it back to Earth with all the moon-muenster they can manage. And if you’re looking for more vehicles of the vast outer reaches from February’s gone by, check out our Feb-Rovery archives.
