Ever wonder what goes into creating the packaging we covet on a shelf until the dust settles or tear into on the car ride home from the store? What sort of rules do designers have to follow before they’re allowed to run wild with their ideas? There’s more to the process of designing box art for LEGO packaging than you’re likely aware of. You’ll discover a new world of marketing and packaging design that will unbox and delight your inner nerd! The inspiration for this article came from laying the box for 75359 332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper Battle Pack out flat to store it. This is as far as I got with the digital recreation of the packaging. It appears the promotional and supporting assets for any given set can be either exact or slightly modified versions of what is seen on the packaging, which may in itself shed light on...

As we mourn the passing of James Earl Jones, it’s impossible not to recognize how his powerful voice has echoed through the LEGO community for decades. Jones’s audio portrayal of Darth Vader in Star Wars gave life to one of the most iconic villains in cinematic history—and in the world of LEGO, Vader’s presence is equally unmatched. For years, builders have created brick-built busts, scenes, ships, and sabers (often in hilarious detail), all marking Vader’s greatest moments. Power of the Dark Side by LEGO 7 Cracking open the vault here at BrickNerd, we’ve also featured many LEGO MOCs of Darth Vader, from unicycles to cars to Christmas trees. Each of these creations is a tribute, not just to the character and voice, but to the builders who envisioned them and whose builds in the past are echoing still today. So enjoy these posts from our archive about Darth Vader and take...

The year is… sometime in the future. The passage of time has long been forgotten by the dust. And if you don’t have your wits about you, you, too, will be forgotten. This is the dystopian vision that Polish LEGO builder Marcin (bigfig2000) brings us. But for all its post-apocalyptic caution, it’s impossible to take your eyes off this huge diorama! It depicts what looks to be an outpost in the desert, an oasis of sorts among the chaos. That isn’t to say there’s no disorder here, though! It’s absolutely jam-packed with details, characters and little stories forming. Let’s start at the front, where this masked amputee catches the eye. Whether he’s a resident of this base or simply passing through, it’s clear the apocalypse has not been kind to him. (If the apocalypse is capable of kindness, that is.) The rout of civilisation clearly hasn’t dampened some people’s entrepreneurial spirit...

We’re big fans of LEGO’s Botanical Collection here at TBB; heck, it inspired a whole collaborative display at BrickCon recently. It seems to be popular with the public at large, too, as new sets keep popping up. One of the latest to be announced is LEGO Icons 10370 Poinsettia – a flower native to Mexico with, believe it or not, a link to the holiday season. With 608 pieces, it will retail for US $49.99 | CAN $64.99 | UK £44.99 from October 1st, although you can pre-order it now. (It may also be available from third-party sellers such as Amazon or eBay.) Now there’s loads of time until the festive season starts, but might this flowery offering be worth picking up before then? Read on to find out! The LEGO Group sent The Brothers Brick an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees...
