#LittleGuyJuly celebrates big personality with tiny builds [Feature]

Sometimes you encounter a LEGO element that takes on a personality when you look at it from the right angle. Other times, you might snap a few pieces together as tablescrap and realize you created a smol friend. A new LEGO build event, #LittleGuyJuly, hosted by Ivybrickss, is a celebration of quirky characters that make you appreciate parts in your collection in all new ways. With such a broad theme and accessible requirements, the event has seen a large number of participants from different corners of the AFOL world. With the month half over, here are some of our favorite little guys so far.

WyndGekko assembles five guys ranging from crustaceans to droids to the cutest thing to live in a garbage can this side of Sesame Street.

baixo_lmmodels prove you don’t need licensed sets to make spot-on Spongebob characters, as seen with this pair. The builder displays impeccable character work with inspired elements in the crabby boss – a true testament to the most important thing of all for LEGO fans: money. Wait, no, creativity!

capymocs turns tablescrap into chibi Chainsaw Man. The use of the CMF shark costume is too perfect.

gonkos_legocreations has a knack for building cute characters, and for this challenge they show that even a constraint of 7 elements and one color won’t stand in the way of an ideal little guy.

Alex Lyman assembles a fun mix of characters who make great use of printed elements from Friends, Dots, Minecraft, and NexoKnights.

I had the shark mouth Sticker from Arlong Park sitting on my desk for  a while, trying to figure out a character for it, and made this fish-adjacent little guy. (legojtf)

trolley_hoarse finds the littlest guy of all!

farawaybricks takes a break from Star Wars adventures and assembles a tea of little guys – bipeds, ooze, and everything in between!

Prolific LEGO dollmaker L.A.Miranda fashions a little guy with ice cream cone thighs that make for great fishnets.

blasted_blockz creates a little guy who isn’t just cute – he also is rich with lore. Meet RODAGONUS, DEVOURER OF LIVERS (Also He Plays The Lute!)

Chloe Staszewska find a new use for the Woodstock hair piece for a little guy’s beard.

Bamboo Bricks shows that “little guy” isn’t about piece count, but rather energy. Little guys are weird, (mostly) harmless, and can be any gender.

brickbytes recreates the claymation character Pingu, who certainly counts as a little guy.

Making a little guy doesn’t require supernatural powers, but it certainly seems like magic  when a handful of parts come together like this little crab from Dissolved Frog.

I used to believe Batman could never be a little guy, no matter hos small you made him. m1ndxbend3r proves me wrong as this Bat-dude is the quintessential little guy.
