Netbrix and chill with these LEGO TV tributes [Minifig Monday]

Ah, LEGO – the building toy that lets you explore deep space, medieval castles, and… the set of Seinfeld. From Stranger Things to Queer Eye, LEGO has made comfort viewing a staple of its catalogue. Since LEGO’s current product offerings are a bit light on adult TV fare (unless you count Bluey) we’re dedicating this week’s Minifig Monday to stars of the small screen

Kimberly Faul takes us back to Staten Island where What We Do in the Shadows was faithfully recorded for 6 seasons. Sadly the camera crew is gone, but we can get some satisfaction knowing that Nandor and crew are still tending to hedges. Kim does a great job of capturing the cast in minifig form, staged in their lovingly decrepit home (plus a few bonus cats, courtesy the builder!).

For a post-apoc minifig challenge on Instagram, Expansion Bricks revisits three of the stars of The Walking Dead, the franchise that refuses to die, in this update of one of the builder’s earliest minifig tributes. Figs aside, I love those trees made from stacked stud-shooting blasters.

Pernilla Johansson is probably the LEGO world’s biggest fan of the CBS sitcom Ghosts. The Swedish builder recreated the interior set of Woodstone Mansion and continues to expand the ever-growing cast of ghosts who haunt the grounds. Here’s the original eight ghosts and the humans who run the B&B.

The Handmaid’s Tale is about as far from sitcom as TV gets, expanding on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian tale of misogynist fascism. The TV series just concluded and MsFarkelBrix pays tribute with this recreation of the book’s iconic cover with a lone minfig Offred in handmaid garb before a chilling wall.

Another show that recently wrapped is Cobra Kai. Łukasz Więcek pays tribute with a super-powered showdown between Johnny and Daniel. Łukasz specializes in dramatic action poses with minifigs, using cleverly concealed putty to angle heads and legs off the joint.

There’s no builder as prolific as Stuntman Brick when it comes to Hollywood tributes. With a deep collection of minifig parts and an impeccable eye for character, Stuntman can turn any TV show or movie into a recognizable minifig lineup. Figs are supplemented by a few perfect props, like in this ensemble of the latest season of The White Lotus where viewers will appreciate the snake, pills and phone.

To lighten things up a bit, here’s Stuntman’s perfect tribute to the teacher’s of Abbott Elementary. Every character gets a gold star, but where are Ava and Mr. Johnson?

LEGO made one surprising and wonderful trip to Arrakis with the excellent Dune Ornithopter but it seems less likely the toymaker will be releasing any sets based on the HBO spin-off Dune Prophesy. Jacob Manahan had mixed feelings about the show’s first season, but did appreciate the characters of Desmond Hart and Tula Harkonnen enough to give them the minifig treatment.

While the Boys season 6 won’t return until next year, the spin-off Gen V returns in a few months. Superhero specialist Roman has a minifig lineup to tide us over, foregoing Homelander and his costumed cronies to pay tribute to the titular Boys.

Showrunner Jesse Armstrong is back on HBO with the madcap Mountainhead movie showcasing the writer’s penchant for capturing the hilariously unserious dialogue of the super-rich. Mountainhead was okay, but it’s no Succession. Roman recreated that too. Of course Roman made a Roman.

Finally, we rewind a season to when Kevin Wanner, the Brick Ninja, created this tribute to House of the Dragon featuring a whopping 347 swords. Only one minifig, but that has to set a record for most minifig accessories in a single photo!
