2024 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 12 [Feature]
The 12th Day of Christmas… Per the classic carol, that’s the day for drummers drumming, but seeing as we’ve already had drums come up the calendars, I’m guessing LEGO has other gifts in-store for today. Between Friends, Disney, City, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Spider-man, you’d think at least one of them could include a turtledove or two.
As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 12…
No drummers drumming, but a mother strumming! Friends brings a character with a surprisingly emotional resonance. This is Paisley’s mom, Rose, who passed away by the time we get to meet Paisley in the mainline Friends sets. Meanwhile, Disney gives us a chibi version of Sven the reindeer.
Today City features a pram for yesterday’s baby. Meanwhile, Hedgwig drops in with gifts over in the Harry Potter calendar.
Our final two gifts take a little more effort to construct. Another ship from Star Wars, this time the Emperor’s shuttle. And wrapping things up, a Spidey-colored candy cane decoration.
With two cute animals, it’s hard not to like today’s lineup. Let’s see what the others have to say.
Theo: That minidoll design rules! Everything else is a bit ‘meh’, though. Even the normally reliable Star Wars micro isn’t great.
Daniel: Nice City follow up with the baby stroller. And speaking of babies, Sven is cool. But I feel like they should have called the Disney calendar “Disney Babies”.
Kyle: I am underwhelmed on the 12th. It’s the micro ship by default, but that doesn’t feel like much of a win.
Bre: Yeah. I always like getting animals, and I like the baby stroller, but overall I’m not too impressed.
Not a lot of enthusiasm today, so I’m going to give the edge to Friends, which as Theo says is a great new design, and for those who love the Friends characters, Paisley’s mom inspiring her daughter with music is a touching tribute.
“I want to see the baby.”
Harry and Elsa have an animal reunion.
