A Nahuatl future

Taking its name from the Aztec or Nahuatl word for strength, the Chikautok Jr-2 by Flickr builder Oskar certainly has a strong design. This spacecraft features some powerfully contrasting color blocking to break up the otherwise smoothly flowing body. Various Bionicle elements work their way into the engine and wing sections, adding texture and a technological feel to the build. White rubber bands blend in with the triangular engine/wing combos, serving a functional purpose with a design flair. The red canopy for the cockpit flows smoothly from one side of the craft to the other while blending in almost seemingly with the red stripe along the center of the craft.

Pop off the canopy and you get a look at the interior of not only the cockpit but also the area surrounding it. The detailed components running along the body could be life support and sensor elements that could use regular maintenance. The pilot’s seat and controls are excellent pieces of design, but I think my favorite elements on this craft have to be the white bows and stars on the triangular engine sections as well as the black saxophones and snowshoes by the engines. There are ton of greebly elements to this design to appreciate.

From the back you can better appreciate some of the detail that Oskar put into this ship. Not only does every component flow smoothly together while also possessing a spiky, complex structure but the parts usage is off the charts! Oskar uses some pretty enviable techniques to achieve this delightfully realistic spaceship and I am here for it. There’s always something else I notice when i take a closer look at the finer elements of this large space fighter.

This may be a render with some parts that aren’t technically available in certain colors but it goes to show what’s possible if LEGO were to just re-color a few elements. Namely that bright red Banana Guy suit right behind the cockpit. That’s just super nice.
