Welcome to Diagon Alley—a hidden street where we can find all the magical things needed for a new school year at Hogwarts! Today, we'll enjoy visiting one of the most beautiful buildings in the Wizarding World, Gringotts Bank! Gringotts is a fantastic object of art and one of the biggest sets in the LEGO Harry Potter product line. But its size is only one of its values. Every part, side, and corner of the bank is rich in well-thought-out details that nearly guarantee that any builder or visitor, for that matter, experiences an atmosphere of magic. Join us today as we go on a photographic journey of Gringotts Bank, explore the hidden treasures inside, and investigate goblin lore as told through LEGO and a lens. LEGO provided BrickNerd with 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank, which I’ve found to be a wonderful architectural creation full of clever and fun surprises. Behind the spectacular...

Earlier today, we got a first look at the LEGO Ninjago Micro Ninjago City (40703) but the real question is how to get it. Well according to LEGO China Weibo, it’ll actually be a LEGO Insiders reward which will cost 6,500 points to redeem it. Every quarter in 2024, LEGO will drop a new set in January, April, July, and October and it’ll cost 6,500 each. Yes, you read that right. I believe this will be one of the more expensive items that have been released in the Rewards Center, next to the LEGO DC Batpod (5004590) which cost 15,000 points when it first launched. As a reference, $1 equals 6.5 points so that means you’ll need to spend $1,000 each quarter to get it or $4,000 in 2024 to get the set of four builds. To be honest, you can actually get all four full sized sets at their current...

LEGO China has revealed a new LEGO Ninjago set with the Micro Ninjago City (40703) which could be a future gift with purchase set. It contains 339 pieces but the price requirement to get it is still unknown at this time. It is basically a downscaled version of the Ninjago City (70620) from The LEGO Ninjago Movie. If you look on the back of the box, it shows three other sets in silhouettes and it looks like it’ll be sort of a Houses of the World thing where there are Ninjago GWPs spread throughout the year. 40704 is the Micro Ninjago Docks and is based on the Ninjago City Docks (70657) also from the movie. 40705 is the Micro Ninjago Gardens and a smaller Ninjago City Gardens (71741). Lastly, 40706 is the Micro Ninjago City Markets which is the latest large-scale Ninjago set 71799. Looking at the scale of them, they’re...

The LEGO Winter Village lineup has been a fan favorite since its debut back in 2009 with 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop. Since then, there has been a new Winter Village addition every single year. That brings us to a total of 14 unique sets (15 if you include the rerelease of the Toy Shop in 2015). While it makes for an amazing display in those chilly months, a yearly Winter Village tradition also means packing it up for the off-season. Since everyone’s collections and storage methods are vastly different, we reached out to the AFOL community (specifically the Fans of LEGO Winter Village Facebook Group, among others) to find out the best ways to store your Winter Village. We got some great responses with various solutions and methods for what to do when it’s time to pack up. Some make a new display each year while some stick with tried...

Best of BrickNerd — Article originally published January 13, 2023. For my inaugural BrickNerd article, I wanted to take a closer look at something I’ve been familiar with for the entirety of my time in the hobby but only had a cursory glance at—the Octan logo. It’s an image that has been etched in our minds almost permanently, not in the least because of its dominating presence in The LEGO Movie, but just from how ubiquitous it has become in City sets nowadays (let alone a gas station in real life). It’s got a really strong brand presence, and I thought it was worth a look. images via Brickset Historic Perspective The Octan brand has been around in our world since 1992, designed by Torben Skov, a senior LEGO designer with over a quarter of a century of experience within the company. The trademark white, red and green colours are unmistakable...
