LEGO photographers, in particular, have a remarkable ability to tell rich, imaginative stories through minifigs. Their work often gives us a charming glimpse into a world in miniature, where minifigures live out full, expressive lives. One artist who does this beautifully is Ryo Tomita, known as @rennerbricks on Instagram and YouTube, a 26-year-old photographer from Japan. I met Ryo at the Japan Brick Festival in 2018. His images capture minifigures in everyday moments—walking, working, relaxing—as if they’re part of a bustling, brick-built world. Yesterday LEGO revealed the LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart Spiny Shell (40787) with no details but we can now confirm that it will be an Insiders Reward. The new LEGO Ideas Pixar Luxo Jr. (21357) was just announced a few days ago we’re checking it out to see if it’s worth picking up. The set has 613 pieces and will retail for $69.99 which is a relatively cheaper LEGO Ideas compared to the previous few releases. Build The first part of the build is for the Pixar Ball. It has a neat building technique to get it to the almost perfectly round shape. The “frame” of it actually contains some Easter eggs hidden within the four columns. These include Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Sully and Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc., Alfredo Linguini and Remy from Ratatouille, and Carl Fredericksen and Russell from Up.
