The large LEGO BrickHeadz family of movie characters is now joined by 4 more iconic figures. Announced on the LEGO’s Twitter feed today, three set, 41627 Luke and Yoda, 41628 Princess Leia and 41629 Boba Fett are to be released later this year. Although, the announcement doesn’t contain any information about the pricing, we presume both Princess Leia and Boba Fett will retail at $9.99, while Luke and Yoda will be priced at $14.99. 41627 Luke and Yoda 41628 Princess Leia This is the second version of Boba Fett BrickHeadz released by like. However, the first one was included into super rare New York Comi-Con exclusive 41498 Boba Fett & Han Solo in Carbonite set. Both figures have a lot of similarities, however, many pieces of the newest one are decorated with redesigned prints. Which Boba do like more? Let us know in the comments! 41629 Boba Fett The post New...

….And if this scene by Grant Davis is any indication, it involves hours of watching television re-runs of Pokémon. Grant’s model is a representation of artwork shared by Deviant Art-user, Nerd-Scribbles. Some impressive-looking techniques were used in constructing Pikachu’s native habitat, including hundreds of dark tan jumper plates used to form the curve of the Poké Ball’s wall. Pikachu looks pretty iconic, right down to the gaping mouth shouting its signature “PIKA!” Grant’s version may be missing the purple Gamecube found in the original artwork, but rumor has it Ash keeps Pikachu on a pretty tight leash now. Most fans build LEGO trains in a scale known as L-gauge, or roughly minifigure scale (somewhere around 1:40 scale). But that wasn’t big enough to capture all the details André Pinto wanted, so he designed this fiery orange engine in huge 1:15 scale, making it nearly two feet long. André used stickers to give the engine, a CP 1408, parts of its distinctive livery, such as the white stripes on the front. The engine was used in Portugal in the 1960s. The bogies beneath the engine are far more detailed that we’re used to seeing, since you can fit a lot more in when the wheels themselves are made from 10×10 radar dishes. The tracks span 14 studs, and the ties are a full 20 studs long. André says the engine itself uses over 7,000 pieces, and about another 7,000 for the base, which has ballast made of 1×1 round tiles. The Sirius is a fictional vessel first appearing in the Tintin graphic novel The Shooting Star, and later in The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure. It was named after the SS Sirius, the first steam-powered ship to cross the Atlantic under its own power. This wonderfully detailed boat by Stefan Johansson is so accurate compared to images of the vessel John-O.88, a trawler that inspired the author, that it is easy to mistake it for a wooden model. The curved hull is particularly impressive, along with the riggings, made up of various lengths of LEGO string elements. On deck, Tintin is ready to plunge into the depths in his diving suit, while Snowy, Thomson (or Thompson?) and Captain Haddock look on. Trek far enough through the tropical rainforests of South America, and you might be lucky enough to stumble upon the toco toucan. Toucans are widely recognized because of their big, bold, bodacious beaks. It’s a wonder they are able to support the weight of that massive-looking head. For that matter, we are amazed Sven Franic was able to pull off the same feat with his brick-built toucan. By utilizing a wide variety of curved elements, Sven has managed to sculpt out an excellent likeness of this magnificent bird. The wooden perch is also a nice touch, one that probably also helps with supporting bird’s weight. It’s “toucan-tastic!” The post A toucan of appreciation for a beautiful bird appeared first on The Brothers Brick. Original linkOriginal author: Matt Hocker

Martin Sanders, LEGO’s Director of Innovation took the stage to showcase LEGO’s integration with Apple’s new revelation of ARKit 2 during the 2018 World Wide Developers Conference in San Jose earlier this week. ARKit 2 is a platform that allows developers like LEGO to integrate shared experiences, bringing together a virtual experienced tied to a physical play set. Martin showcased the physical Assembly Square Creator Modular Set as the main centrepiece. The ARKit featured integration into the LEGO Application detected the build and automagically built a virtual version of the Downtown Diner Modular and Brick Bank side by side with virtual sidewalks, grass and roads and other city accessories, combining the digital and physical set. The science behind it is about detecting and tracking where the real physical Assembly Square as a starting point and building everything else around with the capability to continuously track and update all players with the...

We’ve been pretty excited about the new Pleistocene megafauna (large, extinct Ice Age animals like mammoths and saber-toothed cats) in the LEGO City Arctic sets released on June 1st, particularly after we had a chance to play with them during the Fall 2018 Preview event in New York City a couple weeks ago. With the sets now on store shelves, we’re digging in to bring you an even closer look at the new vehicles and creatures, starting with 60195 Arctic Mobile Exploration Base, which includes 786 pieces, 6 minifigures, and a frozen mammoth and retails for $119.99 in the US (149.99 CAD in Canada | £84.99 in the UK). The box, instructions, & sticker sheet The large box (front and back photos are in the full gallery at the end of the review) includes six numbered bags, plus a large unnumbered bag with tires and the crane arm, with the mammoth...

Krzysztof Cytacki’s Technic version of a Landrover Defender is an excellent version of Great Britain’s gift to the world of 4×4 offroading. While the model itself is nice, the photography is what first attracted me to Cytacki’s work. By taking pictures of his Landrover in the wilderness, Cytacki perfectly captures the feeling of a televised auto ad. You can almost hear the roar of the engine and smell the earthy aroma of mud kicking back as the vehicle scales the rugged terrain. The natural setting does better justice to Cytacki’s model than a plain background could achieve. Those who are more TECHNICally inclined will be pleased to know the Landrover has an interior and chassis details… …including a fully functional suspension system. BrickHeadz is going under the sea, as today LEGO has published pictures of this new pair of characters from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Ariel and Ursula are joining Beauty and the Beast in bringing classic Disney tales to the collectible figure theme. 41623 Ariel & Ursula will have 361 pieces and will be numbered 64 and 65 in the BrickHeadz series, and although there’s no definitive word yet on the pricing, we expect it to be on par with previous two-packs. LEGO’s also given us a better look at the new BrickHeadz from Frozen that we announced last week, now including the box art. Check it all out below. 41617 Ariel & Ursula | 361 pieces 41617 Elsa | 130 pieces 41618 Anna & Olaf | 201 pieces The post First look at the new Disney Little Mermaid BrickHeadz and more [News] appeared first on The Brothers Brick. Spanning the river Cher in the Loire Valley, Château de Chenonceau is one of the most charming castles of France. Built in the early 1500s the place have seen many owners. Today it belongs to the Menier family, who are famous for their signature chocolates. Last year we got acquainted with the chocolate box château thanks to a wonderful microscale model by Isaac Snyder. And now it’s Aaron Newman turn to wow us with an off the charts model of the castle. Full of the tiniest elements the building is much larger than one might think; the final model measures more than 12″ (31cm) tall, 17″ (44cm) deep, and 40″ (102cm) wide!
