It took me a moment to recall a round printed LEGO piece that Sheo. used for the whirl in the centre of this portal in his latest creation. And then it hit me — it’s a very nice use of dinosaur tails and small claws! The final result is a wonderful example of negative space done right with LEGO pieces. And now it’s not the minifigure in front of the portal, but the builder who is the true wizard. The post Your very own mini portal for your daily commuting appeared first on The Brothers Brick. Every year LEGO releases exclusives at San Diego Comic-Con and this year is no different. Star Wars themes have always been favourites. It’s back again this year with a build showcase of the cockpit segment of the Millennium Falcon featuring Han Solo and Chewbacca. Looking at the elements, fans would rejoice as it seems that there are no unique parts to build this on your own. Both Minifigures come from the recent Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212). What is unique is the box that’s designed and shaped like a VHS box with line art instead of photorealistic scene. Collectors of boxed sets would certainly want to have this in their collection simply for the uniqueness of that old-school look. 2018 San Diego Comic-Con will begin on Thursday, 19 July and ends on Sunday, 22 July The post San Diego Comic-Con 2018 LEGO Exclusive revealed [News] appeared first on The Brothers Brick....

Of all the beloved Muppet Show characters, Statler and Waldorf are certainly near the top of my list. I would venture to guess that these cantankerous hecklers are a huge favorite for many people. That must definitely be the case for one superb builder, Alex de Jong, who recreated this iconic duo in spectacular LEGO fashion. 5 months of work over 2.5 years went into this build! We are incredibly impressed by the level of dedication! At over 10,000 pieces, this build is packed with attention to detail, and brings back a ton of nostalgia for these famous characters. Fortunately for us, Alex did a great job of documenting his creative process. He started with Waldorf and used some fun techniques to shape his face. The recreation of Statler also has a remarkable resemblance to the original. Together, they are easily recognizable as the iconic pair. Alex loves to constantly alter...

This is Bob the Alien. Bob the Alien is a salesman. He manages a whole department. Bob works for his manager David Liu. David taught Bob everything he knows and helped him to be where he is today. In fact, one could say Bob only exists today because of David. Bob the Alien hates Mondays. Mondays are when he’s stuck at his desk doing paperwork. He would rather be outdoors meeting clients and delivering them his bestseller product, the LV-426 catalytic converters. There are times when Bob forgets some of his appointments. He’s pretty sure his neighbouring desk buddy, Peter messes with his calendar. The strange thing is Bob has never met Peter ever since he joined the firm, but he could always feel the presence of Peter the Predator. This is Bob when he closes a deal. It must be a big win today. It pays the rent and it...

We’ve been slightly giddy about the return of LEGO Harry Potter, especially after our chance to get a close-up look at the Fall Preview Event 2018 in New York. Well, now we’ve managed to get our hands on a copy of 75956 Quidditch Match and we’ll see if this set at least lives up to our high expectations of the returning line… The box & instructions The set comes in a medium-sized box, and has a decent rattle and heft (always important indicators of LEGO set quality in my opinion). The packaging’s front features Harry, Hermione, and a moody-looking Ron in the top corner whilst displaying the contents of the set: a Quidditch pitch layout based on the match depicted in the first novel and film in the series — Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (or The Sorcerer’s Stone for you Yanks reading this). The reverse of the box showcases...

A long time ago, in this galaxy far, far away, you won’t find lightsabers and droids, but you’ll certainly spot princesses and knights. Built by Koen, this precariously perched castle has a wonderfully Disney-like aesthetic with some clever techniques mixed in, if you take some time to study it. Note, for instance, the second-tallest turret, which has windows made of pulley wheels and Technic pins. Personally, I’d like to think this is where the Little Prince lives after he grows up. The 1920s witnessed the birth of some beautiful boats, such as the Olmaha, built by J.M. Martinac of Washington state in 1926. Markus Ronge has artfully recreated this classic yacht with impeccable detail, complete with convincing curves from bow to stern. In the cabin, 2×2 “crate” pieces have been used to great effect and give off the impression of ornate woodworking. The surrounding waves feel organic, and I love the way Markus has used white bricks to form the ship’s wake. When not in the water, Markus props the Olamaha up to show off its bright red hull. Get your quarters and tokens prepped, because it’s time to hang out at the arcade! This impressive collection of minifigure-scale machines by Kale Frost has everything a LEGO gamer could want, from classics like Pac-Man and Kong to Street Fighter and air hockey. See if you can identify all of the machines! A closer look at the skeeball machine shows just how perfectly they fit with minifigures. These machines would look great in an expanded version of the arcade in Ninjago City Docks, which featured official LEGO-designed minifigure-scale arcade cabinets. Or if something bigger is more your style, check out this 1/2-scale working arcade cabinet. Going in to see Solo: A Star Wars Story with managed expectations, I loved this movie! And the speeder sets for Han Solo and Moloch released in the first wave were some of the best speeders to come out of the franchise, in my opinion. Apparently, h2brick is also a big fan, having built this great street scene featuring Han and Qi’ra careening along pursued by a patrol speeder. There are a lot of nice details throughout this dark gray scene, including a few toppled containers spilling something unhealthy onto the street, and plenty of discarded debris. LEGO builder Helen Sham is a huge Nintendo fan, so she decided to combine her loves by building an incredible arcade cabinet completely out of LEGO. Standing more than 5 feet tall, the cabinet features brick-built graphics from the game Mario vs Donkey Kong 2. TBB spoke with Helen, and she’s given TBB an exclusive early look at this amazing machine. Helen tells us that she sketched out the model first using LEGO’s digital building program, LEGO Digital Designer, which resulted in a design using about 12,000 pieces. During the intense process of translating her digital design to real-life bricks, however, she modified the design and added about 3,000 bricks, making the final cabinet home to over 15,000 LEGO bricks and weighing in at over 65 pounds. Helen made a short video of the cabinet in action, which really gives you a sense of scale. The most obvious feature of the cabinet is...
