Imagine a world in which the trees keep their vibrant autumn colors all year round. Vermont and New Hampshire aren’t even that charming, and they make a mint in tourism on account of their autumn leaves! Ayrlego has built such a world in LEGO and it’s called Otoño (The Autumn Isle). Here we see that a post office has recently opened in the sleepy settlement of Hojaroja on the Eslandolan Island of Otoño. When not delivering the mail, the Post Master lives upstairs in his quaint Tudor style home. I can get lost in all these details, particularly the lantern and the rustic chimney. I can imagine standing on that porch and soaking in the autumn splendor. We quite often get lost in Ayrlego’s worlds. Settle in for a while because you can too. Pardon the nonsensical title, but who can look at a skull-like this and not think of poor Yorick? Unfortunately, we used the quotation that I’m sure many of you are thinking of for a LEGO skeleton holding its own skull in 2006, forcing me to use the messy hacked up title that I did. That wasn’t the case for TBB alum Nick Jensen though, as he sculpted quite the smooth looking skull. I don’t think I’d be wrong to call Nick the master of 1 to 1 LEGO weaponry, so it makes sense that he’s also skilled at recreating what happens to someone who faces down the wrong end of that weaponry! This LEGO skull is a great exemplar of what can be done with rounded and angled elements like slopes and wedges. I can’t really explain why, but I love the way the 3×4 triple curved wedges are held in...

I’m not the kind of guy who likes to watch horror movies; real life is scary enough, so why should my entertainment be scary, too? I mean, have you ever considered how much money you pay in interest on a 30-year mortgage? Terrifying! Add in taxes and maintenance, and it really does feel like my house is eating me. Now, I realize that Pieter Dennison built this incredible LEGO monster house after watching, well, Monster House, but I haven’t seen it. That doesn’t stop me from being frightened. Seriously, look at the state of those shingles, probably a slate roof that would take more than my left kidney to repair. And that siding needs fresh paint, if not a total tear-off (unless you slap some vinyl siding on top, like lipstick on a pig). And that front porch? There’s no way that railing is up to code. This is true horror,...

From the wedge-shaped Star Destroyer to the cylindrical Saturn V, we’ve seen a lot of different shapes used in spacecraft design. This one built by F@bz, however, is a completely new direction. I have never seen so many sloped downward curves in my entire life, and I don’t think I’ll see them anywhere else but here. F@bz’s ship looks like something that Thor might sail out of Asgard, or a vessel of Humanity in Warhammer 40k. Either way, I’m buying a ticket for the next cruise onboard. Seriously. Almost nobody can find a use for these weird parts that hail from the mid-2000s LEGO Sports theme, and then F@bz goes and uses all of them. Nicely done! If you are going to live high above the earth, looking down on the many millions of us humans on the surface, there can be no better place than Mount Olympus, built in miniature by KitKat1414 featuring some excellent rockwork, and a sparkling river flowing right through the middle, and some lovely light fluffy clouds, a few of which are fittingly made from white croissants. To me, LEGO builder Ralf Langer is known for his quite technical timbered buildings. This creation is no exception. We all know building a round structure with square LEGO bricks can be quite a challenge. As you can see a lot of the creation is round: the roof, the wooden staircase made of bars and tread links beside the tower, the bay window on the building on the right, the bridge between the two buildings, and that domed roof made with triangular road signs. Ralf almost makes it look easy. One of the best things about this creation is the usage of black sausages, round 1×1 plates with an open stud and brown 1×6 arches to create a round shape for the tower. Very clever! Another thing that deserves a mention is the use of the plant stem with 3 leaves to create the foliage for the trees. There are a...

I’m always impressed to see different LEGO parts, techniques, and scales used to recreate iconic Star Wars ships. Lennart Cort’s Millennium Falcon and TIE Fighters are the latest to impress the heck outta me. Whether the scale or the technique, I’m loving this fresh take. Achieving the shaping of the TIE Fighter wing panels, while also wrapping them in the gray border is impressive. The laser bolts being fired make great use of trans neon green antennae! The Falcon itself is impressively done too with some equally entertaining parts usages at a scale that’s similar to the Midi-Scale Millennium Falcon. The round technic connector is perfect for the sides of the Correllian freighter, and bladed claw weapon makes the perfect quadlaser. It’s time for that quadlaser to turn around and blast those TIEs! Although he may have started as a secondary role in the trilogy’s middle child, there’s no denying Boba Fett is the king of the Star Wars bounty hunters. LEGO versions of the man in Mandalorian armor abound, whether it’s an official helmet or BrickHeadz, or one of the myriad fan creations, we Star Wars fans can’t seem to get enough of Fett. And here with one more version that’s almost as cool as the caped mercenary himself is Letranger Absurde. This enormous brick-built figure stands more than a foot tall and has all the details right down to the braid over his right shoulder. Sadly, Letranger has released only this single image, so we can’t get a good look at one of Fett’s coolest tools: the jetpack. In an iconic early scene from the first Harry Potter book, poor uncle Vernon finally cracked when a veritable flood of letters came pouring down the chimney. He had the entire family leave the house to try and prevent contact from Hogwarts. However, upon staying in a gloomy hotel, he was shocked to see letters turn up there even. Eventually, he took his whole family to a hut on a small rock on the sea. This creation by gaylespiller, although not entirely “movie-accurate,” really manages to capture the scene perfectly in LEGO. The hut itself is made out of a brown framework built from bricks with a stud on one side. The gaps in this framework are filled in with brick tiles and plates of all sorts, creating an old, crooked, and weathered look. The post Hut on the rocks appeared first on The Brothers Brick. If you’ve been a LEGO fan throughout childhood, this situation might be familiar to you: spending hours staring at a set you’ve always wanted in the catalog, obsessing over it until you’d memorized every detail in that set, down to every last brick. For me, that set was the 10193 Medieval Market Village, with the hinge-open village houses and waterwheel powered blacksmith hammer. It was a beauty back then and it still does in this recent Medieval Market Village redux by Robert Maier, aka hellboy.bricks. Drawing inspiration from all the original set’s essential features, this revamp uses more complex techniques yet still holds all the character and charm of the original Medieval Market. The brick-built tree branches have been substituted with Technic connectors, a pumpkin patch has been added in the back, and macaroni tiles now adorn the blacksmith shop’s archways. The classic brick slope roofing on both buildings has also...
