The year is… sometime in the future. The passage of time has long been forgotten by the dust. And if you don’t have your wits about you, you, too, will be forgotten. This is the dystopian vision that Polish LEGO builder Marcin (bigfig2000) brings us. But for all its post-apocalyptic caution, it’s impossible to take your eyes off this huge diorama! It depicts what looks to be an outpost in the desert, an oasis of sorts among the chaos. That isn’t to say there’s no disorder here, though! It’s absolutely jam-packed with details, characters and little stories forming. Let’s start at the front, where this masked amputee catches the eye. Whether he’s a resident of this base or simply passing through, it’s clear the apocalypse has not been kind to him. (If the apocalypse is capable of kindness, that is.) The rout of civilisation clearly hasn’t dampened some people’s entrepreneurial spirit...

We’re big fans of LEGO’s Botanical Collection here at TBB; heck, it inspired a whole collaborative display at BrickCon recently. It seems to be popular with the public at large, too, as new sets keep popping up. One of the latest to be announced is LEGO Icons 10370 Poinsettia – a flower native to Mexico with, believe it or not, a link to the holiday season. With 608 pieces, it will retail for US $49.99 | CAN $64.99 | UK £44.99 from October 1st, although you can pre-order it now. (It may also be available from third-party sellers such as Amazon or eBay.) Now there’s loads of time until the festive season starts, but might this flowery offering be worth picking up before then? Read on to find out! The LEGO Group sent The Brothers Brick an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees...

LEGO boxes often portray the finished model in action scenes, but the Agents theme took that to another level that Tom Cruise would be proud of. In this microscale scene by Bousker they have recreated the iconic box from LEGO Agents 8634 Mission 5 with amazing detail for such a small scale. The precarious cliff on either side is masterfully crafted in sections, and the gates blasted off their hinges by the agent’s escape still look like a movie. Those sculpted rocks in dark sand and light nougat are the winners for me. The only thing that would make this picture perfect are some action lines. While most adult fans might prefer to keep their LEGO collection separate from other toys, for plenty of kids, LEGO elements are part of a shared toybox where GI Joe and fashion dolls can play with brick-built accessories. SPARKART! keeps that spirit alive with a sleek LEGO Flash Clapper hover cycle at action figure scale. SPARKART! perfectly captures the vehicle’s on-screen look, which is like a cross between a Harley-Davidson and a vacuum cleaner. The studs-free design helps the action figure rider feel right at home. For those curious, the action figure in question is either Dana Sterling from the second season of Robotech or Jeanne Françaix from Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, depending on how you came upon the series. Robotech cobbled together 3 disparate series into one continuity, like if The Croods, How To Train Your Dragon, and Boss Baby were reframed as one multigenerational story. It was the...

When LEGO first introduced the wizard Majisto, I was confused that this affable bright blue Merlin-type was working alongside the Dragon Masters, who with their black and red color scheme, halberds, and mustaches were coded “bad guys” to young me. So while Majisto did have his own tower (and chariot!) back in the day, it felt wrong… like a version of Gandalf who sided with Saruman. A new builder on the scene, Lego Library, offers up a home for Majisto that trades Dragon Master darkness for fairy tale splendor, and it suits the blue mage to a T. Lego Library employs stellar stonework in both the rock foundation and tower walls to achieve a perfect profile that avoids right angles. I adore the blue pointed roof that mirrors Majisto’s hat, and the coral accents add a nice patchwork element. It’s a perfect mix of nostalgia and modern techniques and an amazing debut...

Admittedly, I’ve never seen a Yigg before now, and can’t confirm that they exist outside of the LEGO hobby. But I do know an excellent Bionicle creation when I see one, and I trust Jarek Książczyk (jerac) when it comes to questions of cryptozoology. With an array of bright colors and a trisected mandible, the Yigg looks to be a mighty beast of the land… or sea… or maybe skies? In the world of Pokémon, there are few stories as sad as that of Cubone. And LEGO builder Redverse has poured all that lonely energy into a beautiful build of this pocket monster. Sporting a helm of bone, and a club of the same, Cubone is ready to unleash its infamous Bone Club attack. The Magnemite of Route 10 had better watch out! For a planet best known for its hives of scum and villainy and unforgiving climate, Tatooine boasts a remarkable variety of large animal life, from humble Womp Rats (not much bigger than two meters), to enormous and deadly Krayt Dragons. Builder Maximillian Bricks has recreated several of Tatooine’s charismatic megafauna in LEGO and the results are adorable. For instance, this pair of mounts from Disney Plus outings shows Obi-Wan and his Eopie, plus Boba Fett riding a Bantha as an honorary Sandperson. Flatulence and blue milk, not included. I write this from my hotel room, having just packed up all my LEGO builds at BrickCon 2024 this past weekend. Of the many highlights this year was the headlining presence of longtime attendee and TBB alum Simon Liu. As per usual, a contingent of plastic frogs tend to follow Simon wherever he travels. And this year, an army of his robotic hoppers arrived in this beautiful carrier on the convention floor. There were so many that a miniature version of this robo-amphibian jumped right into my crate as I was packing up my creations (as also happened to may other BrickCon attendees). Thank you very much, Simon! The post FrogNation lands at BrickCon 2024 appeared first on The Brothers Brick. Original linkOriginal author: Kyle Keller (TBB Managing Editor)

The 2024 Olympics brought many of the best b-boys and b-girls to Paris for the sport’s inaugural games, but it was Australia’s Rachael “Raygun” Gunn who captured the internet’s attention with her unconventional breaks. Rickard Stensby captures Raygun’s signature kangaroo hop in LEGO. Building tube-limbed dancers in kinetic poses is something of a specialty with Rickard, so even if Raygun’s breaks aren’t jam, you’ll find plenty of LEGO dancers in other styles in his feed.
