Hot on the heels of a LEGO Brickheadz-styled Back To The Future DeLorean, we get another “vehicle” for the blocky figures — a chunky chibi Hulkbuster Armour designed to fit Brickheadz Iron Man. This digital creation by ORION_brick is nicely done, with suitably beefy proportions and LEGO’s own Iron Man nestling comfortably inside. We don’t feature a lot of digital renders on the Brothers Brick, generally preferring our LEGO models to be constructed in actual bricks. However, this is a cool idea and, unlike many digital creations, it doesn’t employ too many non-existent part/colour combinations. Mediteranean aesthetic, both architectural and otherwise, is not very often portrayed in LEGO, but when it is, builders tend to capture it very well. Mouseketeer111 has done one of these renditions as a modular-style building, and I can say from first-hand experience that this scene reproduces the spirit of an old Italian town perfectly. There are some simple elements that are important to conjure up the Mediterranean feeling, namely a barrel-tiled roof and Italian flags, but other details like bright colours, overgrown walls and the ice cream shop are what make this creation stand out. My favourite part, however, is the balcony. Not only is it well built, but it is photographed so that the shade looks even more inviting! If you are looking for a striking vision of leadership, look no further than the indomitable Optimus Prime! Beautifully Lego-ized by builder Anakin Skywalker, this stunning rendition of the fearless leader of the Autobots captures the shaping of his head and torso superbly. I love the limb articulation and the poseable fingers, as well as the little details like the windscreen wipers. Optimus is posing Roosevelt-like with his “big stick”. Like any true commander, his philosophy was, “There’s a thin line between being a hero and being a memory.” The post There’s more to them than meets the eye appeared first on The Brothers Brick. Here’s a pretty LEGO view — a daisy-strewn meadow with a brick-built backdrop. Hans Demol built this mosaic for a display with his local LEGO group. Mosaics are not usually my favourite kind of LEGO building, but the addition of the strip at the front with the daisies elevated this into something more interesting than a simple rendition of a pixelated image. It would be even better if some of the varied green shades in the backdrop’s “grass” had continued forward over the base, but that’s nitpicking at an otherwise lovely design. Over the years, our friends at TT Games have hired many readers of The Brothers Brick, and now they are looking for one more LEGO builder to join their team. If you want to build with LEGO for a living and learn how to put those models into a game, then this is the opportunity for you.The role is for a Junior LEGO Model Designer in TT Games’ UK offices. The company has hired several LEGO builders before, including Carl Greatrix and the Arvo Brothers. But don’t be put off by any computer technical stuff, because they’ve had several successful applicants who couldn’t even use computers who have gone on to build some of the most incredible LEGO models for their games. Junior LEGO Model Designer The LEGO Integration team in Knutsford, England are on the lookout for a permanent Junior LEGO Model Designer. This is a rare opportunity to become...

When it comes to building LEGO maritime creations, one artist stands out as being a foremost authority. Arjan Oude Kotte has graced us with several of his masterpieces over the years. They include a Rotterham Harbor Tugboat, and a massive 1930’s Danish ship, among others. All his creations are packed with magnificent attention to detail and incredible personality. His latest build, Finnian’s shipyard, is another superb addition to his collection, and we love it! The colors and details are truly impressive. The shipyard features a dry dock, where workers build and repair large boats. An unfinished tugboat sits inside, with workers busy building. The workers in the materials yard are busy carting wood and steel into the shop to use during construction. Lots of effort went into making everything line up just right. A story is told with every shift in angle. Scale replica models used in hobby train layouts, which...

Can you feel the nostalgia oozing out of this gorgeous little trophy-scale homage to LEGO Classic Space? The diorama by Paul Lee is a perfect micro replicant of a Galaxy Explorer, Rocket Launcher and Moonbase as they would appear in a 1980s LEGO catalogue. Special attention has been paid to getting the moon craters as close as possible to the classic baseplates. This build is simple and elegant with a lovely warm after-glow of sentimentality. The new summer wave of 2018 Ninjago sets has been revealed, and the ninjas this time have moved to what appears to be a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Their foes are a band of raiders, and we can’t help but think that the designers over in LEGO HQ in Billund might have had Mad Max: Fury Road playing in the background while working on these sets (a quite different vibe than the designers of the new City Hospital were channeling). The lineup also includes some more traditional Ninjago fare as well, such as flying spinners and of course several dragons. The blue dragon, 70652 Stormbringer, can be paired with LEGO Boost, as we saw in our hands-on demo at the New York Toy Fair back in February. And of course, the biggest set out of Ninjago’s summer wave is the new Ninjago City Docks which we revealed a few weeks ago. We’ll be bringing you a...

Last month, we got our first look at the long-awaited 60204 LEGO City Hospital, and today more images have surfaced online showing the details inside, including a minifigure arm cast, close ups of the vehicles and more. Price and piece count are still unknown, though the set should be available shortly with LEGO’s summer wave of sets hitting shelves soon. LEGO City does tend to prefer police and firefighters, so a hospital is a welcome addition. The poor minifigures need some place to treat all of their boo-boos, and it has been more than six years since the last time a hospital building was added to the city with the 4429 Helicopter Rescue set. Take a look at the new photos of the hospital below, including a look at each floor, a close-up of the ambulance and helicopter, and even two blueprints of the set. The post More photos of 60204...

I’m a major fan of both creations that move and animals, so when I saw this I knew I had to write about it! These beautiful little “long-necks” actually have the same lumbering movements as their real-life counterparts! They even swing their tails and bend their necks! These lovely mechanics are the work of Daniel Schlumpp. He put a ton of thought into the design of the mechanical components, and it definitely paid off! According to Dan, this is version 2.0, after having made similar dinosaurs with only the skeleton. He also says that he wants to continue improvements to create less strain on the motors. Check out the video of his latest awesome dinosaurs in action! Hopefully we get to see a whole series of these in the future, and maybe even a T-Rex!
