Every December—well, let’s be honest, sometimes early January—for thirteen years now, I’ve set aside a little time to scroll through my photostream, pull my favorite builds, layer them neatly in GIMP, and then write “Original linkOriginal author: Geneva D
Today I have the great pleasure of shining the spotlight on one of the—at least in my humble opinion—best Bionicle builders out there, Patrick Biggs. I have to admit that when I first got back into LEGO, I had no idea what Bionicle was or that it was even made by the LEGO company. I am a bit embarrassed about that now, but back then (around six years ago) I was just coming out of my dark age and as Bionicle first came out around 2000-2001, I initially missed the first wave by about half a decade. And the (short-lived) re-launch ended just before I got back into LEGO. Fortunately, the internet is a marvellous thing and I quickly started noticing some very cool MOCs showing up in my Flickr feed every now and then. I also had a fellow LUG-member (o0ger) that was always using cool pieces that I couldn’t...

Earlier we took you on a tour of all the LEGO-related lighting products we could find. We called it our “LEGO Lighting Compendium” because it covers hundreds of options at a high level. With many people across the world having just opened presents of LEGO or lighting kits, I wanted to dive in for a bit more of a hands-on look at lighting as a late Christmas present from me to you, our legion of avid readers! Lighting up the Bugle! To be fair, I won’t be able to cover all lighting products by most companies as the breadth of offerings is so great. So what I’ll do is give you a hands-on overview of what it is like to install a lighting kit for a LEGO set. The ones I am looking at today were provided by Lightailing/Briksmax which I believe are representative of a large percentage of the products out there...

In less than 24 hours after the release, the new LEGO Stranger Things: The Creel House (11370) and the corresponding WSQK Radio Station (40891) gift with purchase set has sold out on the LEGO Shop. No doubt the series finale of Stranger Things helped out with the sales. I’m also hearing that LEGO Stores were overwhelmed with shoppers for it along with the 2026 sets with the Creel House also selling out in stores. You can try to use the notify by email button on the product page or just follow our updates to see when it’ll go back in stock. The LEGO Shop still has three GWP promotions going on with the main one being the LEGO Icons Vintage Parade Car (40913) which can be had with a $200 general purchase until January 11. You can also double up with the LEGO Year of the Horse (40779) with a purchase...

It’s a new year and that means we can now do a recap of what when on for The Brick Fan in 2025. It’s always fun to look back and see what happened during the year compared to previous years. There were a total of 928 posts last year with July being the month with the most news with 105 posts. Of those posts we had 19,010,766 page views and that was a 26.5% decrease in views from 2024. Although the views are down, it doesn’t really tell the whole story because the engagement through social media have increased significantly. The most popular day on the site was May 2 with 244,621 views which was the day that the summer 2025 LEGO sets were revealed for a majority of the themes. As a result, May was also our most popular month of the year. Again like with 2024, our review numbers...
