For Bricks Cascade 2018, builder dviddy wanted to pay tribute to his adopted home town of Portland Oregon with this wonderful white stag. This rustic cabin MOC by Giggs made me do a double take, then an ultra-rate triple take. At first you look at it and all you see is a charming, woodsy scene, with a classic cabin in the woods. Then you notice some figures in there and your first thought is "ah, there's campers or woodsman". Then you look a little bit closer and think "oh, there's zombies too". It's as classic as you get when talking about the early days of LEGO, the wooden duck pull toy. I had the distinct pleasure (and lets face it, stress) of having one in the studio while shooting the animation for the Brickumentary. It had it's own special case and was kept tucked away for security. You could hear angels sing every time I pulled it out for use (ok, maybe just in my head). To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the brick builder JK Brickworks is paying tribute to the duck with this brilliant build, and you can have your own because he's released building instructions. LEGO has been announced as the second-most highly regarded company in the world on the 2018 RepTrak 100 survey. The Reputation Institute has annually done the survey in which LEGO ranked first last year but dropped just one spot this year which shows you how much the public still likes the company in terms of emotional appeal. This year also marks the eighth year in a row that LEGO has been in the top 10 on the survey. Check out the press release below.
