Calling all minifig fans and role-players! The Brothers Brick invites you to join in a new kind of LEGO adventure – one that celebrates building creativity and storytelling. For the next four weeks, follow along as intrepid heroes created by Jacob Manahan, Red Impala, and beyondb0nes embark on a fantasy adventure in a world that mixes LEGO Animal Crossing with Dungeons and Dragons. Or if you want to play along, roll your own minifig hero and join the story! Participating doesn’t require a massive collection of bricks – just a talent for creating characters at minifig scale and a willingness to get into the story. Check out our Minifig Monday features for the type of builds that we’re talking about. How does it work? Read on for the rules:
Welcome to the world of Dungeon Crossing
“You can’t be a hero until you’ve completed your first Delve at Dungeon Crossing.”
Hi there! I’ll be your Lore Master for “Heroes of Fur and Feather” here at Brothers Brick. It’s a role-playing game that you can either follow along, or, better yet, you can play along!
First, let me introduce the world where this adventure takes place.
The Valley is home to villagers of tooth and tail who live together in harmony, each according to their talents. What maintains the peace among beasts who once battled as predator and prey? The tradition of Delving Day.
Delving day is a rite of passage for everyone in the Valley, whether you sport feathers or fur, whether you come from farm stock or the merchant guilds. Completing a Delve marks transition from pup to adulthood. Delvers must leave the safety of the Valley and travel to Dungeon Crossing. Each animal leaves alone but emerges part of a fellowship of fur and feather. The friendships forged in Dungeon Crossing are what keep the Valley peaceful and prosperous as on a Delve we are reminded that all animals are equal.
Each of YOU is an animal who has left home to join the next Delving Day.
Soon the Questing Beast will arrive to greet your class of would-be heroes and let you know your quarry. He’s very cool. Trust me. (He definitely didn’t pay me to say that.)
Players, your first task is to build, name, and describe your fledgling hero who shows up for Delving Day.
Also, every Delving Day participant can bring one piece of gear. Maybe it’s a treasured heirloom passed down by previous delvers, maybe it’s a humble tool of your family’ trade from the field or workshop, or maybe, if you come from wealth, it was commissioned at great expense. Make sure you include your piece of gear and describe its significance.
How does it work?
To play along, first you need to share your character. You need a picture of your animal hero, a name, a backstory, and one piece of gear. Starting this Wedsesday, we’ll advance the story with a new chapter and a new building challenge. If you participate in the building challenge, there’s a chance you can win a prize. and the prize is… a bag full of Bells? No, that’s not cool enough. How about instead we award… ANIMAL CROSSING LEGO SETS! To be eligible for prizes, share your creations on Flickr or on Instagram with the hashtag #HeroesOfFurAndFeather. And add a link to your post in the comments of that week’s chapter to make sure we don’t miss it! Characters must be animal-type minifigs. This can include Animal Crossing, Disney, Chima, Fabuland, or any other full animal faces (not human in a costume). Brick-built is acceptable too, as long as it’s at minifig scale. Any human faces will be disqualified. Purist builds with all LEGO elements are preferred, but we’ll make exceptions for Mouse Guard heads or other similar animal mold heads that fit the theme. You can go ahead and make character now. This is the character you’ll be using over the next four weeks, so please don’t loose those pieces!Campaign Schedule
For the next four Wednesday’s, we’ll share an updated story from our adventuring team and end with a build challenge that everyone can participate in. You’ll have just one week to finish your build for the weekly challenge in order to be considered for a prize. For the Grand Prize, you must have participated in all build challenges.
